The Peavine Campground is located in a lush riparian canyon at the southern end of Nevada’s Toiyabe mountain range. Contrary to what was reported in a YouTube video some time ago, I don’t believe this campground has been abandoned by the National Forest Service, as there are two reasonably clean restrooms with vault toilets and stocked with toilet paper. There is also a sign board with posted rules and regulations. The road in is a little overgrown with bushes and willows, but at the end, you will find about 5 numbered campsites with picnic tables and fire rings under nice tall trees, suitable for tents or trailers probably up to 25’ long. There is also a good sized group area. I didn’t see any fees associated with this campground. No garbage service, dump station, or water, just a pretty place to spend a night or two exploring the beautiful Toiyabe mountains.

Rough gravel road off the highway, doable in a FWD sedan, but go slow. The camp site is about 10 miles away from the highway.
We pulled off to the nearest campsite because it was flooded further down to where the sign and pins drops you.
We didn’t see ANYONE else our entire night stay. Not even another car going by. It wasn’t buggy at all, just a few little gnats and one large bumble bee.
There was a dug out fire ring that we built up to safely light a fire. Plenty of dead foliage to collect for firewood.
There’s a creek that runs by the campsite, it was really relaxing to listen to it all night.
No amenities where we stayed: no bathroom, trash, nor hookups. Must clean up after yourself.
Such a great spot- we can’t wait to go back!
