Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on August 31, 2019We stayed at the Lazy J Campground here in Rosman, NC while my husband had a couple projects in nearby Brevard. It's an exciting time getting in to the Lazy J because of the bridge you must cross over the North Fork of the French Broad River. It was tight but doable in our 38' Class A.
We parked in the first full hook up site because I needed to be as close to their WiFi as possible. With our Netgear booster, the internet has been reliable for me to work without issue ( writing, blogging, using Zoom with clients). Cell phone service with Verizon has been good, too, except for one very sunny afternoon where it was choppy.
The campground itself is pretty with plenty of trees shrubs between sites and the river also g one entire side. The except for the building where you check in and the trash can/recycling area. There's lots of random stuff around. Not a big deal, but if you're judging a book by its cover, that could be a turn off. On the flip side, the owners are fantastically nice people and very accomodating. We've even bought fresh eggs from them twice.
During our stay in February/March, the campground has been pretty quiet. There are about a dozen full-timers at the back of the campground who are quiet and mostly tidy. The chickens and roosters are full time, too, and will come through your site scratching for food.
There's world-class trout fishing in the river here, plenty of hiking and mountain biking in Pisgah Forest and up on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Brevard is a very cute town with lots of bikes, beer, and beauty. Asheville an hour away, too, with plenty more of the same.
When we come through this part of NC again, we'll definitely stay here.

The Lazy J Campground is located about 8 miles outside of Brevard, North Carolina on the North Fork of the French Broad River. It's an older campground with a number of full-time residents who have spots they use (mostly) during the summer months.
While the campground is heavily forested, it's also pretty junky in spots. The showers are not clean. Verizon cell service is almost non-existent.
The campground hostess was very pleasant and went out of her way to assist us in finding a spot for our 25' van. When I told her of the review below, she told me she didn't read reviews because they usually didn't give a balanced view of the place. Might I suggest that the reason is more likely because she isn't inclined to provide the type of place on which many travelers insist. Clean up the clutter, clean the restrooms and showers regularly.
I could not plug into the 30 amp service though I made do with the 15 amp service.
There's a resident rooster that crows in the morning, if you're into that sort of thing.

We stayed here in July 2019 and had a nice stay. The river is beautiful and there are cute farm animals on site. It's a nice mix of RVs, seasonals, & tent campers here. Cell phone servie is almost non-existent, so dont plan of staying inside and watching netflix on a rainy day. However, the office does have wifi if you need to check your email, etc.

Excellent separation between sites with a tree buffer.
Using a Yagi plus a Wideband Directional Antenna on a 25 foot flagpole, I was getting 42 Meg down and 1.7 meg up on Verizon. Using MiFi 880L with 2x2 MIMO.
Less Favorable results at ground levelinside the RV with the Versizon 8800L MiFi

Other options were not available. Dated facility in every way. Leaves covered ground, could not find dump site. Just a dirty old campground that is cheap. WiFi was worthless due to signal strength. Verizon was useable part of the time.
People were nice.

I’m giving a 2 star because the sites and campground roads needs to do some work on. The bridge getting over the river is in great shape but they need to work on better directions to park when checking in. Turn right off the bridge or you’ll have to back up on the bridge. That was not fun!!! So here is my complaint 1st is that the campground roads to your site needs to be widened by removing small trees. There are also turns that definitely needs to be taken out. The big turn left and at all the lanes to different sections.
My other complaint is that the sites are tight. And was not comfortable when another camper pulled in to the next of us. It was nearly 12 feet between E3 & E4. We only had the back of their camper to look at for one night but glad we didn’t for more than that. Oh yeah, we were trying to have dinner while they were setting up. J could have used their camper as backseat for me to lean on.
My last complaint is the checkin office and the surrounding area behind the building and trash area. The office was dark and grungy not organized for the front of the business.
Okay, there is one more complaint. They do offer full timer locations and not begrudging full time campers or spots they occupy but the owners need to identify that they have full timers in one section.
We want be going back unless they have updated the campground roads and sites.

There was no one here except the full time residents in winter. Only one bathroom with HOT shower is available during the winter months. Hosts are very nice. I can see the sites being very tight and close together in peak season. Facilities are clean. Convenient location to Brevard, Gorges State Park, and DuPont. Price is reasonable. They sell firewood at the office, and there is usually someone there. Road noise is pretty loud during the day. Quiets down at night. They have great tent sites right on the river. Very peaceful. Verizon works with voice and SMS, but data is slow despite it showing LTE. Seems it’s faster at night and slow during the day.
