“Home of the first American "Human Library"”
The Rundel Memorial Library is a historic library located in Rochester, New York. The incredible, three story building is framed in reinforced concrete and faced in smooth Indiana limestone. Constructed in 1932, the building represents an integration of Beaux-Arts planning and massing with Art Deco detailing and stylization. The building was built in part with monies from the estate of Morton W. Rundel and with a grant from the Public Works Administration. It is a work of prominent Rochester architectural firm Gordon & Kaelber and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
Rundel is awesome. From books, to park and museum passes, to VHS to DVD converters - you can borrow a ton of great items from this library!
This is a Great Idea. Hope that this is going to happening on a regular basis.
I love this idea of having a human library where you can check out a person with a story to tell in stead of a book! What a cool idea... let's try to have every city in the world have one...
