“Speak and Live with the Trees!”
Hayes Arboretum is the educational project of S.W. Hayes Research Foundation, Inc. Our educational activities and the experiences we offer focus on both nature and recreational programs. There are 466 acres located in Richmond, Indiana that Hayes Arboretum makes available to its members and visitors. There are unique plant collections, rock and fossil collections and miles of hiking and running paths. Other features found on his property include 3% of Indiana’s old growth forest, many acres of reforested woods, an 1833 dairy barn that acts as its Nature Center, the Hayes Museum, Adena and Hopewell Indian mounds, ponds, fields, and wetlands. Hayes Arboretum is open free of charge to the public.
Very nice stop on our trip to California. Very interesting family history. Met Stephen Hayes. This was his grandfathers property. Got a little lost on the trails, but was fun! Nice stop to stretch on a long trip!
This is a great place to bring your school-aged kids! Lots of hands-on exhibits, short hiking trails, and an auto tour. Interesting classes available if you're
in the area for awhile.
