“Hiking, rock climbing and a view!”
Located just outside the heart of downtown Red Wing, Barn Bluff's hill of limestone stands 350 feet above the Mississippi. The hike is a steady climb, but the views at the top are a wonderful reward. Miles of Wisconsin’s and Minnesota’s urban and rural countryside are visible with the backdrop of the beautiful Mississippi River. Barn Bluff is also known for its rock climbing with 100 single-pitch sport routes of varying difficulty from 5.4 to 5.14. The G.A. Carlson Lime Kiln, located 0.3 miles from the parking lot was placed on The National Register of Historic Places on September 27, 1976.
Worth the climb! Check out both east and west summits. You won't be disappointed. Mind the trail. Take the moderate trails if you think you may have difficulty.
