Confirmed by 5 users | Last reported on September 05, 2023Campground has a good location for visiting rapid city and surrounding attractions. Located right off 16, but we didnt notice any road noise. Bob and Peg run the place and were very friendly and helpful, offering a few suggestions for some stops we might add to our travels in the area. Sites were spaced well and pretty level, mostly pull-throughs. Bathrooms were clean. Newer washers/dryers. If you aren't looking for a resort to keep your kids busy, this campground is perfect.

Reasonably priced, clean and well run campground. In addition, the owners are wonderful hosts who go out of their way to help you. Well located to provide an easy drive to Mt Rushmore and all local tourist activities
Office closes at 9:00 pm.
All in all this was a wonderful stop and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the area.

We visited in the middle of September with a pop-up trailer and 4 adults. We arrived in the evening just before closing. This was a "Mom-and-Pop" type of campground. The hosts, Bob and Peg, were very organized and helpful. They do have 5 cats but have posted a clear warning on the front door in case of allergies. The sites were grass. The hosts placed guests in every other site due to us visiting in the off-season - there was only about ten other camp sites being used for the duration of our stay. They provided wifi and it worked marvelously. The bathrooms housed the showers and restrooms, but the bathroom stalls were separate from the shower stalls. There was a large bathroom counter around the four bathroom sinks. They were relatively clean - old, but tidy. There were hooks in the showers and a towel rack by the sinks. The laundry room was very clean. There were two washers and two dryers - it cost $1.50 to wash and $1.50 to dry. They also had a nice table for folding laundry inside as well. This was the perfect location! It is just south of Rapid City - close to town if desired and just north of major attractions (It took about 15 minutes to get from the campsite to Mount Rushmore). Along the way there are several other museums (Dinosaurs, Bears and Reptiles) that are literally minutes from the campground. And right next door, is Fort Hays which hosts a Chuckwagon dinner and show (which was fabulous). We would definitely stay here again.

We spent our first night at the KOA and needed to relocate due to a scheduling mixup. We drove to this camp and found it quaint, clean, cozy and affordable. We have a 38’ 5th Wheel and pull through spaces are appreciated. The caretakers are very nice & helpful. This is a Good Sams park so a discount is given. We have 50 amp power & water / onsite dump station with showers and good WiFi. ATT signal almost full 4 bars but solid 3 for sure. We would stay here again.

Pros:
Convenient to Mount Rushmore and other attractions as well as Rapid City
Good price point plus Good Sam Discount
Good WIFI and cell signal
Staff was friendly
Cons:
Sites were too close together. Looks like they are squeezing in two RVs where there use to be one, it’s the closest sites I’ve ever seen and we full time.
Not enough gravel on the roads or sites. We saw a Class A get stuck in the mud ON their site.
Road noise is a bit much for us, you’re right on a highway
With a little rain, mud is a real problem here.
Not the campgrounds fault but we got hit with hail storms two out of the four days we were there.

While they do stack the spaces pretty tightly, it was a very pleasant stay while we waited on vehicle repairs. Lots of rabbits roam the grounds to keep you entertained. Nice wash facilities and clean showers. The grass needed mowing. Some long term people were here.

New owners last year and the rates have been increased. It is a very nice park, quiet and well kept. I thought that $50 a night would come with hot tubs , pools and a few amenities but it is a nice convenient park. 49.54 for Goodsam 50amp w/s 311.88 /week one night free.

Ask for a new site near the top of the hill for best views of the valley and distant mountains. (319) Beautiful sunsets from this western section. Lots of bunnies eating fresh grass around the rvs Very convenient to Mount Rushmore, Badlands, and Custer State Park.
Ask for a new spot. We were in a tight, muddy older site with an uphill sewer connection. Although I would think this is going to be fixed when the site is updated. They’ve done a lot of work! We had new utilities and water/sewer connections, we’re escorted to our site, and offered a free bag of ice upon arrival. Can’t wait to come back and see what they’ve done.

Cannot say enough about the friendliness of the caretakers. We only planned one night but then realized we needed more time to get everything in! There was no problem booking another night and they even let us stay in the same spot. They offer free ice which was really handy with a condenser type fridge. Mighty, the office cat, was great to meet too! Very friendly neighbors, most came and went within a day but there are a few longer term folks (which helped to learn more tips about the area).
The sites are all gravel. We did not have to use leveling blocks for our camper. The water pressure was good (we use a regulator at 50 psi). Bathrooms were good, didn't use laundry or showers). Our sewer hookup was slightly elevated which made final dumping a bit troublesome but we were in an older site so hopefully fixed in the renovation. Not many trees and very bright at night, we didn't even need our exterior light but have black out shades and vent covers so it didn't bother is inside at all.
Overall we would definitely again and recommend!

Had no issues during our 3 night stay. Never saw our meet the owners as we arrived in the rain and no one was in the office. They took care of everything over the phone including precise directions to get into our site. The Fort Hays Chuckwagon in right on the other side of the fence which works great for getting pancakes the morning we left and didn't need to drive our vehicle. We were hooked up and ready to go the night before! All you can eat pancakes at For Hays for $.99! I guess the showers are a little small. I didn't use them or the bathroom but the husband and kids did.
