“Largest museum of its kind in the Southeast”
The Southeast's newest and largest natural history museum features live animals, dinosaurs, whales, walk-through dioramas, science education and research.
It was surprising to see so many research lab areas set up in conjunction with exhibits. My toddler loved walking through to see the different "areas" of NC. We parked right on the street next to the museum (2 hour max until 5) and we could've easily stayed for 3 solid hours. Plus, the museum itself was free!! Great stop if you are traveling through town.
First stop, best stop!
Be sure to get yourself a copy of the museum guide once you’re on-site, or consider downloading their app in advance so you can map out your visit.
Cute little Earth replica on the outside of the building. Great spot for pictures.
