Lake Charles State Park is a Arkansas state park in Lawrence County, Arkansas in the United States. Situated in The Ozarks along the Black River, the park features the artificial Lake Charles. The lake is a result of a partnership of four agencies to construct a multipurpose lake just north of Shirey Bay Rainey Brake Wildlife Management Area in an effort to control flooding and preserve the watershed. Construction on the lake began in 1964, and the park was dedicated in 1967.

Beautiful state park, peaceful and quiet. Lots of trees and on a lake. Some sites look small and on a slope. Ours accommodated our 28 ft. Airstream and F250 without needing to unhitch.

This was the most difficult leveling job we had ever encountered. The site dropped of steep so we had to almost put our hitch on the ground in order to level.
The park is very pretty and I enjoyed all the walking trails. The flies were relentless and there were zillions of them!!
I think we were in loop C. These bathrooms were only so so and were often dirty. I would use the bathrooms at loop A to shower. There is not a bathroom at loop B so if you want to be some what close to a bathroom don't stay there.
There was no wifi and almost no cell signal.
Also this entire area is dry so BYOB!!

I only stayed one night in April 2019. I loved this park for it's beautiful trees and well spaced sites, and of course a lovely lake. Of course, I was one of a handful of folks staying mid-week so my viewpoint is from that perspective. The office staff were stellar as I pulled in right before closing. They stayed late to help me get registered and pointed me to the best spot in the park right on the lake. I was in a site with a concrete slab so had no issues in getting level. The dump station was clean and easy to use. Would definitely camp here again. I did not use their restrooms so cannot comment on that situation.

The camping part of this park is always clean! Rangers make rounds every 15 minutes to check sites. I always feels safe. The park and trails are very clean. There are many trails through the woods and around the lake. Boat access, kayak access, swimming, great fishing, and friendly staff!

Camped 10/19 & 10/20/21 (Tue, Wed). Site 31 was in Loop A. Price was $19.15 with non-resident senior discount. Original price for "Class B" water & electric was $23 (plus tax). We arrived without a reservation and were allowed to drive through the campground and pick a site, then come back to pay. We initially wanted a site in Loop B figuring better lake views, but it's a little tight for maneuvering and all sites closest to the lake were taken. Loop A was larger and still had lake views. Loops A & B are the Class B sites.
There are rolling hills here, and there were a good number of sites that were slanted. Class A sites in Loop C were more deluxe and also more expensive with full hook-ups. Our site was elevated (due to the hillside), had a cement pad for the picnic table, with the fire ring to the side. It was somewhat unlevel, but not bad. Some sites have tent pads, but not all of them.
Bathrooms were clean, and the showers were fine. The Loop A bathroom has 4 rooms that are wheelchair accessible, with flush toilet, sink and shower in each room.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, even assisting us with some paperwork we needed to do. The park was pretty, with nice trails, but we did hear road noise, even through the night, and had some flies. Loop A only had 3 other campers, so we had some privacy.

Beautiful big trees with a view of water in the distance welcomed us to site 31. It was not close to level, nor were the others near us. Come prepared for that and enjoy the stay.
