Fricks Locks Historic District or more simply Frick's Lock is an abandoned village, along the also abandoned Schuylkill Canal, in the northeast portion of East Coventry Township, Chester County,Pennsylvania. This 18th-century village outlasted the canal, being abandoned in the late 20th century with the construction of the adjacent Limerick Nuclear Power Plant. The village on about 18 acres of land were listed as a historic district by the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. Frick's Locks is considered a modern ghost town, and although private property, attracts visitors. In 2013 construction and repairs have begun to turn Fricks Lock into a Historical site and Tourist attraction!
Be careful if you're going to visit Fricks Lock. It is private property, but you can arragne to have tours if you are down to plan ahead. On weekends there can be a few perday! Check the link to find their facebook page with more details
drove awhile to get there so I was very disappointed, the entire area is fenced off with a 12' fence , and it has 24 hr security and alot of the building have been or in mid restoration so no cool abandoned things to check out flat out waste of time.
I would be very cautious in making sure it really is turning into a tourist attraction. I was told by a police officer that the arrest almost 1 person per day for trespassing! I was almost one of them!
