Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on May 15, 2024We picked this RV park because of it's proximity to Chicago. It's about 3 miles from the Portage/Ogden Dunes Station and the train ride is about an hour and 20 minutes to Millennium Station.
Woodland Village is primarily a mobile home park with RV spots scattered throughout. The nightly rate is $30, however, if you stay over 6 days it goes down to $15/night + electric.
When we arrived, the man who showed us our spot insisted on helping us back up. I understand that some RVers might not be very experienced and might actually need the help, but I would have preferred it if he gave us the opportunity to decline. Also, his direction would have actually made us run over the water spigot had I not signaled my husband to stop backing up.
This park sits right next to the railroad tracks, and when the train passed it feels like an earthquake in the trailer.
The owner was very nice and said they were completely renovating the laundromat.

Park was nice and quiet. Staff was fantastic very helpful. Lots of trees. Close to Chicago without being in Chicago. Planning on going back after all the winter snow goes away.

This is a large Mobile Home/RV Park. Concrete pads with patio. The park has lots of trees, but they are trimmed at the top so we got good satellite reception. The problem with this park is that it is a tight squeeze because of all the cars parked on the streets and we have a 45ft motorhome with tow. We got stuck down to the axels when backing in to the space because we missed the concrete pad. This is the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. However, all the neighbors were very friendly and gave lots of help with their chains and 4 wheel drive vehicles and were able to pull us out and get us into another space with easier access.
Portage is a nice size town with plenty of shopping and restaurants. We stayed here on the way to a Entegra Rally in Goshen, IN.

We arrived after the front office had closed. In making the reservation over the phone, we were given an after-hours number to call. Cisco answered the phone with a smile. He helped us get situated into our spot. Cisco is very friendly and helpful! The park was very quiet and friendly people waved upon encounter. The Zip Mart located next to the office was fully stocked and open when we needed supplies.

My husband and I were working in Merriville for 6 weeks and found this place not too far away from there. It’s not paradise but the people are friendly enough and the price was right. I should worn those that are light sleepers that there are train tracks VERY close by.... and it’s very busy and loud. My husband and I don’t mind some noise but this was even a little much for us. That being said though, I would definitely recommend this place to someone who needs a place to park for a bit. No amenities really to speak of as this is a mobile home park and not an actual campground. So there aren’t any showers, WiFi, special activities etc....Our price above is the monthly price and they prorate it if you don’t come in on the 1st of the month. As that is when rent is due.

We arrived after hours, the office gave us the after hours arrival phone number. We were greeted by Keith, and he also helped us back our rig in. The site had a concrete slab and a trash can. We also experimented our first Tornado, warning sirens blaring. There were a lot of trees around us. Nothing serious happened to us, just a few branches and having no power for a few hours. We saw the camp crew cleaning up all the debris. Great experience.

We called in the morning and were able to find a spot with full hookups (30amp) easily. The best part is that you are 6 minutes from the Ogden / Portage train station that will take you straight into millennium station in downtown. The train ride is about an hour and some change- but it gives you time to relax and think about your day.
The people are nice, and besides the random trains in the middle of the night, we have no complaints. The second morning, I was able to walk into the office and ask for a second night.
It was $40/ night and the train tickets to downtown are $9/ person (one way).
If we come back again, this is where we will stay.

This is a mobile home park/RV park. It has a neighborhood feel, and the area is quiet. The front office people are great, and the after hours guy who helped us when we arrived was awesome! Lots of trees, and everyone in the neighborhood is friendly. The downside is that there is no fire pit/grill provided.
