Sites can be close together for some. I suggest the B Loop and get on the sites located on the i side of the loop roads. If you get a site on the outside of the loop road you will be on the main road.
Also, stay away from the last sites on each loop, they are actually on the road and your camp-side will be only side with grass, and you will have traffic going around your camper to the back.
A lot of walking and bird-watching trails, a bike lane to Lake Eerie, and plenty of green space in the campground.

Great little state park. Camp sites are too close, but good for a stop over on my trip from NJ to WA.
Camp ground, summer/winter fishing, lots of wildlife, great swimming spot, good to picnic, volleyball court, ride bikes, rollerblade, walk, bike, jog. Good times.
Nice clean campground. Bike friendly to store, game room, beach, etc. Mostly open area, so we were glad to have the awnings. No privacy between sites, but there’s enough room set up a little patio area. Clean bathrooms and showers. Friendly and helpful staff.
We stayed over a weekend with friends. The campground was tight and busy, we had no shade at all. Pad was level, paved, fire ring and picnic table. Our site was 30/50 only but there are premium full hook up sites as well as dry sites. Short walk to the harbor (less than 300ft). Shower house was older but clean and well maintained. The shower I experienced in the men's side had very little water pressure but my wife said the woman's was like a pressure washer. Campground offered wifi but we didn't try to get on.
The surrounding state park is large a beautiful. We spent a wonderful day at the beach which was a short drive from our spot.
We visited Lakeside and Marblehead while in the area, lots of stuff to do with in 15 min of the campground.

I probably would give this park 3 stars for peak season in one of the partial hookup spots, however, we were in the best spot in the campground at the end of September. Site B131 is one of the few full-hookup sites (though there is a full-hookup loop currently being built) and it's at the end of the row, so the site has a big "front yard" with no neighbors on one side.
The beach is half a mile from the campground and is mostly rocky, but there is a small sandy portion for swimming.
The "Annual Halloween Campout" was going on at the end of our stay. Almost every campsite in the campground was decorated for trick or treating, it was awesome.

We had a good time relaxing at the campground. Our time here was during the week, not the weekend and there were many empty sites for August. We visited the beach area and walked many trails. My favorite part of our visit was visiting the Marblehead Lighthouse, about 20 minutes away. There is nice access for boaters to get on the water and the many camp-hosts were friendly. Our arrival was easy, the check in process was a breeze. There is no privacy except for the privacy within your rig. I booked a site for a 25 ft rig (we are only 21 ft), and the site that we got could only fit that, not fully our tow vehicle. On the campground rules, it says that they didn't want any part of the tow vehicle or the rig on the grass, which was very difficult to do. From what I saw, there are a few pull through sites which can accommodate big rigs, but as far as the back in sites I think it would be very difficult if possible at all. We have a small camper and still our truck tires had to touch the grass.
The State Park itself, is on the coast of Lake Erie, and has some pretty beautiful spots for picnicking and bike riding.
The thing that would bring us back to this campground is the location. It is close to all the ferries to get to Put In Bay and Kelley's Island. It was also close to Lakeside in Marblehead, which was one of the cutest places we have ever been. So for location reasons we would be back.

Please help spread the word! Bernie was LOST on July 21, 2019 at the East Harbor State Park Campground. She was not wearing her collar at the time, but is microchipped with up to date information.
She is all black with green eyes, 2 years old, spayed, and weighs about 12 pounds. If you find her or see her PLEASE email me. We do not live in the area, but will come back as soon as we can to pick her up!
Thank you!
