“Grand structure built in 1901”
The historic Lowe Hotel is located in the heart of the Point Pleasant Historic District at the corner of Fourth and Main Streets. Its grand structure was built in 1901 and originally named the Spencer Hotel in honor of J.S. Spencer. Then operated by two brothers, Homer and Griff Smith, the hotel was purchased by the Lowe family in 1929 after the stock market crash and renamed the Lowe Hotel. The hotel is now owned by Ruth and Rush Finley, who purchased the Lowe in 1990. A visit to the Lowe gives a step back in time with today's conveniences. Ruth and Rush have been continually upgrading the building and adding their personal touch to the business. The friendly atmosphere and hospitality create a very pleasant and restful experience for the traveler. The historic Lowe Hotel is believed to be haunted by many ghosts. The most well known may be the apparition of a beautiful and disheveled young woman seen dancing on the mezzanine between floors 1 and 2. There are also rumored to be many other ghosts here, including the ghost of a toddler riding a tricycle on the second floor, the ghosts of a maid and a sea captain on the third floor, and a phantom string quartet that can be heard in the fourth-floor ballroom.
I love this hotel. It's got a historic charm about it and allegedly it's haunted! We stayed in a corner room overlooking Main Street with an excellent view of the Mothman statue. It's a creepy building, but really beautiful. Be prepared the rooms, bedding and furniture is pretty old. But, kept up well.
Stopped at the Lowe Hotel this past weekend on a roadtrip and was not disappointed. We checked in with Marcia, she was so sweet ❤️ stayed in room 306 where we may or may not have experienced some paranormal activity 👻 The vibes were on point and the building was beautiful. It felt like we traveled back in time. After four long days of adventure across Ohio and West Virginia, this was my favorite stop.
Great place to stay for any type of Mothman related fun! Staff was super nice and helpful! Stayed in Captain Suite - it's basically an apartment. Love the vintage feel to all the decor, but place could use a good deep clean. All in all, was good experience!
I'm currently sitting in my room at the Lowe Hotel writing this up. The staff was very nice and made suggestions of local places to see and to eat, I really think it's cool how everything is older such as the furniture and art on the walls, it almost feels like you've walked back in time.
