“ancient history in Platteville!”
Belmont Mound, an outlier of the famed Niagara dolomite escarpment, reaches nearly 400 feet above the Village of Belmont. From the 64-foot observation tower on top, you can see for many miles in all directions. The wooded mound abounds in berries and wildlife. It has picnic and playground facilities but no camping is allowed.
