“Pittsburgh pride in fresh food!”
Ms. O'Connor is a single mother of two and has been in the restaurant business for over 28 years. In 2001, she decided to quit her job as a bartender and buy her own restaurant. She walked into the current Kelly O's and asked if the diner was for sale. "I had never been in the place before," said Ms. O'Connor. When she was told no, she left her name and number."They called the next day," said Ms. O'Connor. Kelly scraped together some funds by refinancing her house and worked out a deal with the previous owner. "We have a lot of Pittsburgh pride," said Ms. O'Connor. "We support the local products. Everything is fresh at my place and all of my soups are homemade."
