“the perfect picnic spot!”
Enjoy four major park areas complete with playgrounds, courts, and athletic fields located conveniently to serve all areas of this historic and scenic small town. The pavilion at Walters Park is the perfect location for a family reunion or other celebration too large for the back yard and is available for reservation. Or, perhaps the smaller pavilion at Green Street Park will fit the bill. The skate park at Delaware River Park offers a place for skaters to enjoy their sport. In addition, other playgrounds and park areas for children of all ages dot the town, and the municipal outdoor pool at Walters Park provides summertime fun for the whole family. The beautiful gazebo at Shappel Park has been the site of weddings for many happy couples. Youth sports activities with multiple volunteer opportunities abound. Soccer, softball, baseball, basketball, football (flag and tackle), wrestling, cheerleading, and more are open to the community. The Recreation Department offers an annual outdoor Summer Playground Program during summer mornings. For families who need a more structured program, the Firth Youth Center offers an annual Summer Day Camp.
