“A look at Ozark geology”
This scenic area consists of two hiking trails--Pedestal Rocks and Kings Bluff. Pedestal Rocks is 2.2 miles and Kings Bluff is 1.7 miles long. This unique area offers a good look at Ozark Mountain geology. The views are some of the most spectacular in Arkansas. Both trails feature easy hiking, but border high cliffs with steep drop-offs and require safety precautions. There are three picnicking units, vault toilets and parking is available for large vehicles. (Bayou Ranger District) Kings Bluff features a large flat bluff top with a waterfall that flows over the ledge. The entire bluff has been fenced to prevent hikers from slipping on the icy rock during the winter. The mountain walls direct your view through the canyon of trees to focus on the rolling mountains, the Ozarks.
Good hike. Probably more of an easy moderate. Bluffs we’re good and easy to find. Some areas you can get down to look under the cliffs to find caves. Parking available with a pit toilet. Glad we didn’t it.
At first this trail seems.. Uneventful but ends up with natural arches, sink holes, over looks. One of my very favorites in AR. I recommend going down below the overlook the caves are amazing!
My favorite stop of the trip so far. Bring a camera. The paths are pretty close to the cliffs sometimes. Be careful ;-)
