“for the vets!”
Osoyoos Lake State Veteran's Memorial Park is a 47-acre camping park on a 14-mile-long lake that stretches several miles north into British Columbia. Located in the midst of a hot and arid environment, the park provides welcome respite with its sandy shores, green lawns and shade trees. A war veteran's memorial is in the park. 14-mile-long Osoyoos Lake is formed by the Okanogan River widening south of the Canadian Rockies. The park has expansive lawns leading down to the sandy shore of the lake. Shade is provided by willow trees. The area is hot and dry in the summer, with usual temperatures of 80 to 90 degrees. The area's average annual rainfall is13 inches, with 10 inches of cool-weather snowfall. The park's full name is Osoyoos Lake State Veteran's Memorial Park because some of the land was given to the state by the American Legion. In 1998, veterans groups donated a plaque and memorial that dedicate the park to all veterans who served their country in war and peace. The lake originally was called "Soyoos," meaning "The Narrows," by Native Americans. The area was historically used by Native Americans as a campsite and for horse races. In the mid-19th century, the same area was used by miners and cattle drivers following the Caribou Trail north to the Fraser River gold fields in Canada.

Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on July 01, 2020We camped here for two nights with our 28’ trailer the second weekend in June. Due to recent flooding, some of the campsites were still under water, which may be the only reason we could get a site on the weekend. (The person in the office said she won’t have a site available in July and August.)We opted for a no hookup site on the river (#62) and had the area to ourselves.
This is a nice campground with spacious sites. While we were backed up to the river with a great view, the lake is also beautiful with a nice beach (no dogs allowed on the beach). Because of the high water level, no boats were allowed on the lake so it was extra quiet and peaceful. There's a large grocery store across the street from the turn-in to the campground.
A nice side trip if you stay a couple of nights is a drive up to Sitzmark ski area, a very remote, beautiful area 17 miles out of town.

Wish we had reserved for more nights. A great place for families with access to the lake with beach access and possibility to rent many water toys. We had a pull through spot with water and 50a electric. Yes, there is Verizon coverage, but Speedtest showed less than 1 Mbps download. Too slow for anything more than mail.

Our plans were initially to stay two nights, as we did have reservations. But, we were told our stay was during the busiest weekend of the year. The Oroville May Festival is held every year on this weekend. Most of the campground is full, there is a parade, concerts in the park and food booths. Hundreds of local residents turn out for a day of festivities, so we decided to shorten our stay by one day. We gotta say though, the live entertainment was wonderful.
This park was once a State Park, but no longer. It is now being run by the City of Oroville, who do an excellent job of managing the park. Our no hook up site was right at water's edge and shaded by large willow trees. Along with the many shade trees, the park features a sandy beach and thick green lawns. Available activities include boating, fishing, swimming, bird watching and all watersports.
The campground facilities include 41 standard sites, 39 utility sites (power & water), 12 primitive sites (walk-in only), 2 ADA sites (one with power and water) a restroom/shower complex, many picnic sites, and dump station.
A big shout out to Steve and the boys who made sure we had the best site away from the crowds and offered any assistance during the busy weekend. And as a side note, what makes this park so wonderful is that is very close to the Canadian border. We were able to make an early crossing before the crowds. We would definitely stay there again.

This is a very nice family camping park. Sites are scattered, some close together, some not. Gravel site with W/E (35A) and paved interior roads that are ONLY one lane wide. There is a booth for water toy rentals, a small sandy beach area, and a roped off swim zone. Osooyos Lake is very large, extending into Canada. We were here on Memorial Weekend and it was nearly full. The lake itself was surprisingly devoid of boats, just a few small fishing motorboats that we ever saw. There is a dump station on scene, but no sewer hookups at the sites. The showers are quarter-fed.
