We have camped here for the last 4 years, several times a season. The campground is part of Wayne National Forest. There are roughly 18 electric sites and 4-6 tent sites. The campground sits right on the banks of the Ohio river. There is a Camp Host on site during the weekend and some of the week. We have had 3 different Hosts in the 4 years and each has been friendly and helpful. Sites are well taken care of and nice in size. They have 2 pull-through sites that can accommodate big rigs. The shower building is nice and well maintained, although only one shower on each side, with flush toilets. There are also pit toilets on the other side, and flush toilets near the shelters. Nice playground for the kids and a sand volleyball court. A walking path goes around the entire grounds with a section leading back to a small gazebo. Most sites are fairly level, however those near the water have a slope to them. Paved roads that are level, and the walking path make it great for riding bikes.

As mentioned, this campground sits on the banks of the Ohio River. It was flooded several times this Spring and they have closed it for the entire 2018 season. We will miss it, but hope to return next year. Also, because this is a small campground it fills early, so be sure to (try to) book as much in advance as possible.

Unfortunately we had to leave very early the next moreing because we work remotely. It was previously report that Verizon 4g LTE with 2 bars. We checked every campsite out. There is no cell service. I did manage to get 3g right down on the river.
This is a very high usage campground. Luckily it the spot is not reserved it turns into a first come first serve. Please check reserveamerica.gov because all sites are 100% reservable. If it had not been for the cell service we would have stayed longer.

This park is a jewel and one not to be missed anytime you are in the area. Great sites, lots of trees, river views and watching the barges go by.

We made it an overnight spot and the only downside is that we had to leave the next day.

Small campground with 18 electric, 6 or 8 tent sites and 2 day use pavilions. Literally on the banks of the Ohio River. We have been going here regularly for several years. It can be difficult to find an good open site so reserve early. Grounds and shower house are well maintained by Camp Host. Roads are flat and a nice trail encircles the grounds. Great for kids. Playground is a little old but still a hit with the kids. The drawbacks are cellular service (especially Verizon) is hit and miss unless you have a booster. There are railroad tracks on the other side of the river and there is a crossing directly across from the campground. This will wake you up in the middle of the night or early morning. Also, barges going up and down the River could wake light sleepers during the night. Otherwise this is a fantastic hidden gem.

This campground is small and quiet. It was full the entire time we were there. As others have said, it is right on the bank of the Ohio river. The campground was tight for our 40’ rig and truck but doable. Many of the sites listed were plenty big enough to fit our rig but to get into them is tricky because of the layout. They do have 3 or 4 pull through sites but those book you fast. There are pavilions for picnics and gazebos at the ends of short trails for watching the river or the tributaries. There is a shower house with restrooms and separate restrooms. There is a dumpster in the day use parking area and a dump station with rinse water and a separate potable water fill up area.

You can access the dump station/potable water area without going into the actual campground but you do need to loop through the day use area to be facing the right way to get into it. If you need to empty and fill up before parking your rig it’s a little annoying because you can’t just leave the dump station and go towards the campground unless you have a short rig. You have to leave the campground and go to Frontier school and turn around and come back.

There is no cell service for Verizon in this area. Also, the only site without any shade is site 18.

I'm struggling with this review, as this is a very beautiful campground. It's small, 22 sites total and better for smaller rigs. There are a couple of spots that had large rigs, but its tight. Lots of room, they are not packed in, and the only cell service is on the fishing pavilion or right by the river. Lots and lots of shade too.

The camp host doesn't really do too much, didn't even acknowledge us. The bathrooms were not clean, pretty yucky actually. We talked to several neighbors and they all are locals who come here a lot and we're disappointed in the facilities. Even our site had tons of trash on it when we pulled in. We watched the host step over the same pile of trash all weekend. He was pleasant and friendly when we did see him, but that wasn't often. One neighbor actually said something about the bathrooms and he did go and clean them. But it was weird, there weren't a lot of people there, so they shouldn't have been that dirty.

I wish they would also clear the boat dock, it was impossible to get to the river through the 4-5 ft tall weeds. There is a really nice boat dock about a mile north of the cg , so you can use that.

Still a lovely and quiet spot. Very few trains, and you can hardly hear them and I'm a light sleeper. Take a 20 minute drive north to the next bridge and go to New Martinsville, WV. Cute town and all the shopping you would need. On the way back, there's a park on the Ohio side where you can watch the barges and walk the park. There's also a couple of cool ice cream spots you can stop at.

This is a beautiful campground on the Ohio river. Large sites some with electric. Free showers and a dump site. Water available. Wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Wish we had more time to extend our stay.
