“teaming research with education to promote bird conservation”
Located in the heart of the Lake Erie Marsh Region, the Black Swamp Bird Observatory was founded in August 1992 and is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife research, conservation and educational programs for the public. Walking trails, restrooms and visitors center available. The Observatory’s long-term research projects have shed much light on the mysteries and complexities of the migration of songbirds, raptors, shorebirds, and rails. BSBO data has been used to assist both private and governmental land owners in better managing their properties for migratory bird species.
