Avoid site #8 if you are longer than 24-26’ as it is very steep. It’s about 4 miles from highway but totally worth it. I have it 4 stars because cost is high for sites without sewer connections. Super nice dump station is available though so maybe I’m being a little precious.

The sites are quite close together for a state park but we have not stayed at a PA state park before. Just other states are more secluded. It is a small campground on a hill so some of the sites are a little hard to get into. The first few sites are the most desirable. The bathrooms are fantastic as is the dump station. Although there is only one position for dumping. There are two or three? handicapped sites that are completely paved. There are some really nice trails down along the highway and across by the lake.
The park ranger made his rounds about 10 times a day. Not sure what that was about. Some of the sites are tent only, some have electric and water and a few are full hookup..
We had good Verizon coverage. There is a town about (Newport) about 3 miles away with a fully stocked grocery store (Weis).
The only reason we would not stay here again is because the sites are so close together. This may not bother some. All in all it was a nice small campground.

Overall a fairly nice state campground. Sites are not overly large and they are somewhat close together. We arrived on a Thursday and the place was not very crowded. Come Friday the place nearly filled up with the exception of a few tent sites. But then come Sunday afternoon the place emptied out again. Water and electric hookups were fine. The restrooms/showers were kept nice and clean. There were two utility sinks on the far end of the restroom building which was a welcomed addition. The dump station was easy to get to and the area was kept clean. Dumpsters were just to the right of the entrance to the campground but were close to overflowing when we got there on a Thursday and were completely overflowing Sunday afternoon...yuck.
This was my first time to this campground so when it came to picking a site when making my reservations I just more or less randomly picked one. You might know, I picked perhaps the most difficult site to back into. Wasn't really all that bad but if I would have had a bigger trailer, it would have been much more problematic. That being said I would suggest folks avoid site 36. Virtually all the other sites looked to be fairly easy to back into plus there were several pull through sites.
Across from the entrance to the campground there is a nice lake with a picnic area. One afternoon I fished the lake and caught two trout and a small mouthed bass. Also, there are numerous hiking trails around or close to the campground. There is fire wood for sale at the campground and although it looked pretty good, I didn't think it burned all that well.

Upon arriving at this sp if you have reservations you do not have to stop at the office go directly to the campground which is further down Little Buffalo Rd. When making reservations make sure not to pick sites 31,33,35,37,39 unless a tent camper. Thanks to the super helpful staff for making our four day stay sucessful.
