Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on November 02, 2023This campground is located on a grassy knoll, with a nearby river and a short drive away from Linville Falls. Sites are situated in a way where almost every camper can see the other, and few sites were large enough to accommodate our 25' trailer. Fair amount of generator noise during the day.
I'd only come here again if I were religious about wanting to see the falls and booked a large site in advance. Also, we tried grabbing boosted Verizon signal with our directional antenna and it wouldn't work anywhere in the campground. All in all one of the less comfortable campgrounds we visited during our drive up the Blue Ridge.

This was an outstanding place to stay. If we didn't already have plans to meet with family elsewhere, we would have stayed longer. We fully intend to return and tell everyone we meet about this magical place. We stayed in late October 2016 when the colors were changing.
This was our first ever boondocking experience and James' first real RV and camping experience - EVER (grew up camping and RVing for vacations). It could NOT have been a more perfect place for us to begin this new journey of ours. After all of the boondocking we have done, this is still on our top three!
The people there are nice and neighborly, one regular vacationer helped us when we first arrived. Some spots are for reservations only, but there are plenty of other open spots to choose from. There aren't any hookups. There are spots for both RV'ers and tent campers. Tent campers are typically lined up along the rolling river down below. There's a lake on the other side to fish in. The individual camping spots for RV's are spaced out enough to give everyone their own privacy, complete with fire pit that has the grill piece attached.
We walked the grounds with our dog after we arrived and set up, everyone was nice and waved, at the least. After the sunset, we sat outside to stargaze and it was beyond picturesque. We were in a perfect circle of tree tops with a plethora of stars, shooting stars (because there was a meteor shower happening at the time) and the milky way was very visible as well - add that in with the sounds of the rolling creek on one side and a professional singing and banjo playing duo performing perfect music off in the distance by their campfire made it absolute perfection.
Now, we had just our Verizon cell phones with us and we were off-grid. With that being said though, we didn't mind at all because of where we were and the experience. Very much worth being without signal.
We woke up early to hike to Linville Falls to watch the sunrise. The hiking trails all around there are wonderful, with beautiful views.
Could not recommend this place to stay, explore and experience the campground and surrounding trails more. Turn off your electronic devices for a change and do it. It was so refreshing coming from a couple who have their own business and are very much engrossed in electronic devices for work - worth every second of not using anything. DO IT.

Few campers during the week, fills up on weekends. Most sites are tight, so check carefully on line and use google earth to see if you can fit. I had a neighbor with a fifth wheel who somehow ended up with his truck 90 degrees to camper once he had it parked!

This a a well take care of and fairly well trafficked campground off the Blue Ridge Parkway. While the campsites themselves are fairly small, there is a lot of open space in the campground for stargazing. While there are no hookups, it is what I was expecting from an NPS campground. All of this is in addition to the fact that it is also located near Linville Falls and the quaint little community Of Linville Falls as well.

We have been staying in RV parks with hookups all summer in Western North Carolina since May to survive the heat and humidity. Now that it’s Fall it’s finally cool enough to dry camp without electric and the leaves are just beginning to turn. Nightly rate is $10/night with senior pass.
This campground is laid out more like an RV park around a meadow with little privacy. Our site B-37 was smack dab in the middle. Some of the sites around the perimeter so have more privacy with their tables/fire rings in the woods.
Most sites are too small for larger rigs, but there are several pull throughs on the lower loop. There are a lot of tents in this campground compared to RVs. Probably because there are no hookups. Many of the Tent sites consist of a parking slot and area to pitch your tent on the meadow.
While you can walk around the paved loops there is not a trail to Linville Falls from the campground.
There is nothing wrong with this campground. I would try other campgrounds along the Parkway before coming back here.

Right off the BRP, and close to an excellent hiking trail to the falls. However, you need to drive a short distance to the trailhead. Most sites are paved and many are without hookups, which was fine for us. The site was short but wide, so you had to block the road at arrival and departure. The TV parks beside the trailer, so it fit our 19ft but longer rigs need a different site. Spacing and privacy was ok. Fine mid-week, at about half full, but the weekends would be too close for us. No service for verizon or T-mobile without booster. 2 bars for T-Mobile with booster.

We arrived in a Saturday and with a full park the sites are a little close (for a Natl park). No hiking trails from the campground - need to drive to trailheads. But great hiking!
After the first night we switched from A03 to A07 for a more level parking site.
Campground staff was really friendly and helpful.

Third campground along the BRP when heading northbound, and likely one of our least favorites. The sites are fairly close together and offer little sense of privacy. A lot of unlevel sites as well, but some sites more suitable for larger rigs.
A very popular destination on weekends too (which was when we visited.)
As others have mentioned, there's no hiking from the campground and the trails to falls are about a mile up the road. As we travel in a van, that meant leaving our site or taking the bikes (and there's no bike racks at the visitor's center!!). But the hikes ARE gorgeous, albeit a bit crowded.
But the worst thing about this campground? Even with all the mobile internet tools we travel with (multiple routers, antennas, boosters, hotspots, all four carriers) - the best we could do was get enough intermittent AT&T signal to do text based surfing. And we spent hours trying to get something usable here.

I’ll be honest, my husband and I were skeptical at first. I’m going to start with the bad, because there wasn’t much bad at all. The bathrooms were a bit messy. Not in a way that is someone else’s mess, but a lot of spiderwebs on all of the stalls. And there were no showers. However, that was in their website so we should have realized.
Now to all the good. The sites were very pretty. Some are right near the river, others are in a bit of tree clusters and some are in open fields, which is great if you’re relying on solar power. It was fairly quiet while we were there and the park ranger walked around regularly after quiet time making sure no one had their generator going.
We got lucky and hit peak fall colors. It was absolutely stunning. And it was so close to the blue ridge parkway and all of the surrounding activities (falls, caverns, etc) that we were blown away at every turn. There is also a winery that is close and that was a treat.
Definitely no service for Verizon. It’d say we had 1 bar of LTE but that was a lie most of the time. Texts usually took 5min to send and sending photos was fruitless.
