“an artistically inspired Times Square hotel”
Whoever said stylish can’t be familiar? Probably the same people who said modern can’t be affordable. Good thing we didn’t listen. Instead, we created a modern place to spend the night that puts you and yours in what feels like the center of the universe. Our hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of Times Square on West 47th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues. That means less than 1 block from Times Square, the Theater District and Fifth Avenue; 3 to Restaurant Row; 4 from Rockefeller Center; and just a bit further to the Empire State Building, Central Park and Greenwich Village. (Oh and did we mention the vibrant nightlife, high-octane entertainment and eclectic restaurants?) In short – everything that makes NYC buzz and hum with energy – is right outside. And indoors, we always impress. A sleek lobby with pops of orange, green and blue lighting. Surreal aquariums with colorful fish darting here and there. Comfortable guest rooms that blend form and functional amenities. An on-site restaurant and lounge with enough personality for a crowd, but the unique creativity of a friendly chat. Come see why NYC is better at Night.
Reviews
This place is what a big chain (i.e. Wyndham) think a boutique hotel is. It's black and white-colored, with pretty opulent-looking wallpaper, furnishings that are pretty IKEA-esque, and affordable. It's like $200/night. So, for Times Square, it markets itself as an "affordable boutique hotel." That's not to say it's without charm.
ROOMS: The rooms are very cozy, like really cozy, about the size of a really large closet, but to be fair most hotels in Times Square are. The bed was very comfortable.
BATHROOM: It could just be my room (#79) but the toilet got pretty badly clogged one day, cause the flusher was very weak. Otherwise, the shower was comfortable, also had weak water pressure though.
KID-FRIENDLY: I was in NYC for a long weekend with my 9-month old and they brought a crib up to my room for me, so that was awesome.
ROOM SERVICE: Room service was prompt, but the food left something to be desired. It's from the in-house Thai restaurant. I ordered the edamame (awesome), salad (great), shrimp dumplings (awesome) and chicken skewers (gross, like really gross). It was a bit expensive for the small portion size.
CONS: Mini-bar is weighted, so you can't use it as a fridge, if you want to use it as a fridge it's $30. That's ridiculous. Also, beers, wines and liquors are $10. That's dumb. You should just order beers and wines to be delivered to your hotel room from a site like this: http://www.newyorkgrocery.com/beer.html That's what I did. I spent $30, got wine, a six-pack of beer, some sparkling waters and razor blades delivered right to my room.
PROS: Close to everything. Very convenient to scoot around the city. Very friendly and helpful staff. However, I did have to call the front desk for ice about 4 times once. It rained and they provide umbrellas, which came in handy. The doormen are also very very nice and always hailed cabs and helped me with my baby carseat and stroller. Overall, good experience, probably wouldn't stay again though. But, if it's the best option, it's not the worst.
