Mount Ellison, the elegant country estate of New York's Ellison family, served as wartime headquarters for three of the most famous of George Washington's Generals: Henry Knox, Nathanael Greene and Horatio Gates. From Memorial Day to Labor Day tour the stone mansion and grounds including nature paths overlooking the dramatic Silver Stream gorge, site of the ruins of the Ellisons' gristmill operation. Also open for special holiday programs in December.
