Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on May 04, 2022Arrival, after traveling miles on the dirt and gravel NFS roads, was easy. The campsites are well designed and offer some privacy either by distance or plant screens. Sites 4-14 have water views, but shore erosion may make it difficult to access the lake from your particular site. We were paid/reserved, so had no interaction with the camp host, although we did see him driving around. There are 2 restroom/shower buildings with 4 separate M/F shower and potty rooms per building. I have seen vault toilets in many federal parks, but these flush. The lake itself is lovely and forested. Across the lake you can view the mansions of Uwharrie point.
I could not determine who was responsible for stocking/cleaning the restrooms. Some children were not so careful with their deposits. Perhaps the campground could leave some cleaning spray and a brush for citizen volunteers to utilize when needed.

I like this campground and would have given it a 5 star if the sites were more level. I have no complaints as the site I got WAS level with easy access, but others were not so lucky.
There are no hookups for water, sewer, or electric, and most of the other campers were tenters in one form or another. Sites include a fire ring and a BBQ grill (wood) on a pedestal. They recently thinned the hardwood forest on the access road, so firewood is no problem I had several conversations with the camp hosts and thought they were a great couple. My rate is less than the $20.00 posted rate because of my senior pass.
Another poster commented on "miles" of dirt roads and something must have changed. The road in is mostly paved accept for the last 1 1/2 mile which is very good dirt road although it has some serious pot holes. Just slow down a little and you will be fine..
My site, although not on the water, was maybe 50 yards away. I chose to give up the better water views for a more level site. This is a very peaceful and quiet campground although there are lots of kids on non-motorized bikes. The sound of their laughter just made it more enjoyable.

This was a really nice area. Absolutely gorgeous. The lake access is not that convenient, and next time I would probably stay on the other loop that’s not next to the lake because it’s not so crowded. I wish the camp host was more strict about quiet hours. We stayed from a Tuesday to Thursday and it was still very noisy. There were campers up till 11-12 o’clock drinking and yelling and carrying on. There were generators running all night long, and there was a group of around 12 to 16 people that set up camp at around midnight headlights turned on on all the vehicles to set up camp. Everyone around the surrounding sites did not get to sleep till before 1 am.
If you’re interested in hiking I would highly recommend grabbing a map because there are awesome trails everywhere. We are going back just for the hiking and we will be staying in the other loop.
The showers are below average, but still usable. If you have access in your RV, definitely be prepared to use your RV facilities.
Nice shaded spots. Overall nice spots. The only reason for the three stars was the noise.
Verizon only had two bars, but I never dropped a call and was able to use my laptop/hotspot with no problem.
T-Mobile had no service whatsoever within 3 to 5 miles.

We decided to make an overnight stop at Badin Lake Campground on our way to South Carolina and boy, are we glad we did. Based on a few YouTube videos, we chose to stay in Site #9 overlooking the lake. As you can see from our photos, the view is spectacular. The campground is very clean and well kept. Especially the toilets and showers, which were spotless. The sites are spacious and most accommodate various size travel trailers.
The only issue we had was trying to locate firewood. There wasn't any for sale at the campground and we didn't see any for sale by local residents along our route into the area. Fortunately, we were able to rustle up enough downed wood to build a small fire to roast a few hotdogs and enjoy the quiet evening.
We look forward to returning in the future so we can spend more time enjoying the campground and take advantage of the various recreational opportunities in the area.

Badin Lake was just ok. There was no soap in the bathroom and that’s just not ok these days. The shower had warm water but is on a very short timer. I was there Thursday - Sunday and there was a ton of car traffic in and out of the campground. There is also a low hum of motor boats morning till night on the weekend.
On the plus side, the hike around the lake is beautiful and I get the sense there is more hiking to discover.
People at the site and on the trails kept to themselves so I would give top marks for friendliness either.

We went to check this spot out for a group trip. The camp host was really nice. Our spot was perfect, bathrooms are clean (like someone else mentioned, no soap), bear cans are in 2 spots around the campgrounds. There is a slight humming noise all night long and boats are constantly running by. That wasn't the problem for me, the problem was the little bugs! Obviously this has nothing to do with the campsite itself but the area. They were getting in our food and faces. Bug spray doesn't help as they are little nits. Super annoying.
We will come again as long as there is a strong breeze :)
No cell service, we were using Ting which in turn uses both Verizon and T-Mobile.
