Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on August 30, 2022We have camped here many times over the past years. It has alway been a pleasant experience. We have some favorite sites we like to return to. This was our first time in 46, it was fine, but a little open for our taste. However we had no neighbors so our stay was quiet and peaceful. The campground is clean and well kept. There are a variety of types of sites available. The restrooms are clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice place to spend a week.
There is fishing in Pakim Pond, lots of trails. There is a nice playground for kids.

Nice clean campground, quiet, and well patrolled by park staff and police. We stayed in site 67 that is a pull through site with a 28’ tt (bumper to hitch) and while the spot was long enough, the trees at one of the entrances would have been hard to pull through so we backed in. Pakim Pond is maybe a 10 minute walk from the campground. Dump station was broken and staff said it would be down for a while, so be sure you plan for that (I called the day before we went and staff said they had a dump station, so may not be able to rely on them for that). Paid $20 per night plus a $5 booking fee.

We stayed here for a week at Thanksgiving to visit family nearby at McGuire AFB and NYC. It’s very remote and quiet, which we like, and open year round. Our site was next to a fresh water spigot and 3 sites from the dump station. Other nearby parks closed earlier in the season, and some closed their dump stations prior to closing the campground.
Site was large and wooded. Roads are sometimes in paved and have puddles after a rain. With al the trees we were protected from the winds, but didn’t get much opportunity for solar charging. We had to run our generator about an hour a day, but with only 3 other campers in the park, it was no issue.
We love this type of rustic camping and will be back for Christmas!

Clean, quiet, and peaceful. This is our 2nd time staying here and enjoyed it again. Several hiking l trails are around the area. There is a playground, but I noticed kids were enjoying the dirt mound more. We got an email the day before arrival letting us know the dump station was out of order. This tends to be a place where some dirt bikes will camp, so you may here those every now and then. I noticed they had a few new picnic tables at some of the sites. That was needed as those were in rough shape last year. We had great 5G.

Needed to use a dump station while visiting family in New Jersey. Byrne was closest I could find. With an out of state license it cost $30 to use the dump station. BUT the dump station is included with a campsite for the night. Cost to camp for out of state campers is $25 per night! I did not stay the night. Park does have a number of nice hiking trails. Be sure to take the map as the trail markings can be confusing.

We arrived on a Tuesday in the last week of May. There were only two other campers in our area . There is some road noise, but not as loud as the Whiporwil's. The facilities were very clean as there was hardly anyone here. The hot water was great. We biked on the Horse trails as we were worried about the Tick's.. A little soft sand made the ride a bit of a workout. Two more campers arrived by Thursday and expect more for the weekend. Did a day trip to Barnegat Light.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Sites are huge! So beautiful and peaceful. Great roads to Long Beach Island which was about 28 miles. It was very hot while we were here but was able to run our generator for air conditioning. A huge plus was that we had great Verizon signal. We would stay here again!

The staff were great and very helpful.
The campground sites and bathrooms were very well kept. New fire rings and lantern hangers. The sites are a little closer together than I would like but that maybe just because the surrounding trees were kind of thinned out. Still felt fairly private. Lots of trails for hiking or biking. Flat easy walking. Just watch for chiggers in these woods from spring until late fall.
If you go bring some type of lotion for ticks and chiggers. If you haven’t experienced Chiggers consider yourself lucky. They are not exclusive to this park and are throughout the pines in South Jersey.
