Jefferson Township Park Campground

Found this gem North of US 30 just east of Ft Wayne. 6 sites on gravel/grass with 50 amp hookups and shared water hydrants. They have a shower house and bathrooms, but not sure of conditions. I believe there is a dump station. Caretaker lives on property. Tracks nearby, only heard three trains in twelve hours. Shelter house and picnic tables. There is an observatory (not open all the time) and an RC airplane airport that gets used a lot. Neat to see. Great stopping point on 30. Quiet and good stargazing.

The price went up 5 dollars since the last review. We didn’t use the water connection since it had a very strong sulphur smell to it. We already had 2/3 tank of water fortunately. And as far as the train noise is concerned, sorry for any that have problems with that because yes there is train noise, and pretty regular. We don’t mind, as we are used to it. Many places have train noise and we are ok with it. The caretaker was a nice lady, Miss Opal. Very pleasant and helpful. Nice stay for us.

Great spot to stay for a couple days

The campground host Miss Opal was very accommodating and kind. We were able to just pull in without unhitching. The site was pretty level. We heard trains and construction workers around 7 am but the night was pretty quiet! The water did have a sulphur smell but we just used a double filter and it wasn’t too bad.
