“serene bamboo garden”

Initially intended as a winter shelter for honeybee colonies in the 1950's, this aggressive form of evergreen bamboo (Phyllostachys nuda) has evolved and spread into a large grove. Evergreen and hardy to -25 degrees Fahrenheit, this bamboo produces culms each season that grow to 30' plus in a matter of weeks! The bamboo grove features a winding path and a bridge over a small stream. Always changing throughout the seasons, this grove never fails to transfix and amuse the many visitors. The bridge over the stream was destroyed several years ago during a hurricane, but is to be rebuilt during the 2005 season.

This was perfect for us (kids aged 4 - 11). My kids love nature, and they were amazed at the bamboo forest! There are a bunch of other very natural trails they wanted to explore, but we simply didn't have enough time.

My 11-year old son says 5 stars! I’d have to agree. It’s very cool. Worth a quick trip.

This place was really cool... It was a quick stop to get out of the car and stretch a little but really awesome how many and how tall these bamboo trees get. There is a little stream and a bridge which is very peaceful!

The lush Bamboo Forest is open year round. The bamboo grow to be in excess of 30ft in height, and the walk through the garden is the perfect way to relax after driving, or to just stretch your legs.
