“he's got the whole world in his hands”
Quite an unusual headstone. A hand is holding what looks to be the earth. What is this headstone trying to tell us? Maplewood Cemetery is located on the west side of OH-605 (Reynoldsburg-New Albany Road), approximately a ½ mile south of OH-161, in New Albany, Ohio (Plain Township, Franklin County). The coordinates are 40° 4' 37.34" N, 82° 48' 42.34" W. Maplewood Cemetery was established in 1817, and it is still active. The oldest gravestones are located towards the west side. Most of the gravestones are in fantastic condition; there are very few that have been damaged. The township takes excellent care of the cemetery.
