Historic Square Arts District in Nelsonville

One of the Hocking Hills region's historical and cultural landmarks is the Historic Victorian Public Square in Nelsonville. This charming arts destination is home to an eclectic array of shops, restaurants, and artisan galleries, as well as the beautifully restored Stuart's Opera House. The Opera House was orginally built in 1879 and today serves as the hub of this very active arts community. Throughout the year, Stuart's offers a variety of musical and theatrical performances by top national, regional and local artists. Stroll the streets and sidewalks made of the famous Star Bricks and marvel at the graceful Victorian architecture. Visit the galleries of Starbrick Clay, The Majestic Galleries, Paper Circle, Nelsonville Quilt Company, and Nelsonville Pottery and Gifts. Enjoy a cup o' joe at FullBrooks Cafe or grab a bite to eat at the Mine Tavern (we recommend the cheeseburgers). And on the Final Friday of every month (except December), the Square celebrates the evening with additional art, music, and food from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
