The campsites where beautiful, most along a creek, superbly taken care of and with lots of character. Facilities are very nice, and there is an amazing small lake to swim. Despite the elevation, the water temperature was just perfect and the sandy beach very well maintained. My only complaint is that ground at the campsites are covered with course sand. Gravel would have been much more preferable.
The campground is in a very remote location and there is absolutely no cell service, but please don't let either of these deter you. I wish we had spent more than one night here.
Unfortunately we had a schedule to keep and in my hurry to get everything ready I neglected to take any pictures.

We were unfortunately only able to stay one night as we were passing through the area. We had no issues navigating our 26ft trailer through the campground. We we're also lucky enough to snag site 20, a pull through site that sits on the river. The restrooms were impressively clean, camp hosts were friendly but not over bearing and other campers were quiet and respectful. Wish we could have stayed longer.

A beautiful, rustic campground in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest of Virginia. We stayed on Site 28, which is right next to the creek. There are no hook-ups in this park, but it has a nice restroom building with 4 private showers.

We hopped on a non-reservable site over the weekend as it was the perfect middle location for all the touristy things we wanted to see in the area. This campground is 20-60 minutes away from tons of beautiful historic towns and sites! The campground itself exceeded our expectations. The site was clean and well kept nestled alongside a bubbling creek that feeds into the mountain lake. The campground hosts were kind and respectful, but also kept the park in perfect order. The bathrooms were the cleanest we’ve ever camped with. If our path ever leads back to this area, we will certainly camp here again!

Camped at Cave Mountain Lake near the Natural Bridge in VA this weekend. Site 20 is amazing!! A beautiful creek runs through this CG so many of the sites are creekside. Bathrooms & showers were super clean. CG host was super nice. Beautiful lake within walking distance & the natural bridge is about a 10 min ride. Would definitely stay here again!!

What a wonderful campground! This was our first outing in our new 21 ft Geo Pro. We decided to trust Campendium for our planning process. Campendium introduced us to Cave Mountain Lake, and lonewolf1977 guided us to site 20. The site was across the lane from the bathhouse, which was clean and very nice, and the stream was less than ten feet from our camper. If you love the sound of running water, then 20 is your best choice! I have to mention that the hosts...all of them...were extremely attentive and friendly. There was no Verizon service, which was a benefit to our vacation. This location is minutes away from Natural Bridge State Park and is close to a gas station and a friendly, small local market. We loved this campground and it definitely earned five stars.

This is definitely a 5-Star campground but don’t let everyone know because we want to keep it for ourselves! There is lots of space between the wooded sites with a picturesque stream separating the 2 rows of campsites. The bathhouse was very clean and easily accessible. There are also hiking trails on site.

Breaking up my travels with an overnight at Cave Mountain was the best decision I have made in a long time. The only regret is that I only spent one night here. What a delight! Bill, my campground host was amazing. The sites are clean and perfect with a quietly babbling stream lulling you to sleep. The bathrooms were clean and equipped with great showers. Can't wait to return to this hidden gem!

Very nice, quiet campground. Try to get a spot that backs up to the creek running through the middle of the campground. Very nice campground hosts. The lake was not much but entertaining for kids for an afternoon. Natural Bridge is definitely worth a visit and if you want a challenging hike the Devils Marble Yard is right of the road and worth a visit. No cell service at all but that was nice for a few nights.
Several reviews said site 20 was good, it has no privacy, is directly across from the only bathhouse and the worst site there. We actually paid for 2 sites to get away from site 20. Site 2 was very nice.

We only stayed for one night on our way to Shenandoah national park. We love this campground. It is so peaceful. Large campsites too. No cell service in the campground and no hookups. Definitely would like to come back again. We stayed on site 24.
