“The worlds largest gift shop”
Since 1946, The Gay Dolphin has been a family owned and operated Myrtle Beach Landmark. Located on the beautiful Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Ocean Boulevard, one block south of the SkyWheel®, the Gay Dolphin is one of the three must-see attractions in Myrtle Beach. With more than 70,000 items in 30,000 sq. ft. of retail space and items ranging from sharks’ teeth and shells to alligator heads and dragons, the Gay Dolphin is not just your average gift shop – it is a shopping experience.
The name draws everyone in to the biggest gift shop in the Myrtle Beach area. Multiple floors are stuffed wall-to-wall with unique trinkets, but you can also find stereotypical tourist gifts here and nearby elsewhere on the strip. The pirate section was great.
A LOT of things to choose from. This place is huge. They have some affordable trinkets plus things the rest of us can only dream about.
O.k. So the gay dolphin, is not really a gay dolphin, but a gift shop. Let me say, if you are looking for a novelty, they have it here. From license plates with your name on it to colored seashells to Halloween hermit crabs. Even voodoo dolls for luck. They have it all. I didn't buy a thing, but enjoyed browsing this place and would do it again. Make a stop here. If you like Spencer's and Hot Topic in the mall, this is a step above...beach style.
It's huge and iconic, but it's busy, stuffy, and difficult to park at. There are better gift shops, starting with the Lazy Gator in nearby Murrels Inlet.
