This campground is just a short drive off of the paved Pioneer Mountains Scenic Byway but is often overlooked (and not crowded). Most of the sites are on the smaller side (under 18' recommended) and most have some slope to them so parking RVs may be a challenge. Quiet and clean, very little traffic even during peak summer season. Coolidge ghost town is just a few miles up the road and is worth checking out if you're up for a hike. Concrete tables, fire rings, newer pit toilets, water pump available in camp and parking for horse trailers just outside of camp are available.

I stayed here in my 13' Scamp trailer to dayhike the trail out of this campground and explore the area. The Wise River corridor is a beautiful area generally but scarred with a heavy cow population. It was disappointing hiking the marvelous open meadows up by Harrison Park because there is cow shit everywhere except in the thickest timber. But you do leave the cows behind once you get up the trails into steeper, higher country.

I inspected nearly all the campgrounds along this corridor, from Pettengill up to Price Creek. Each had 5 to a dozen campsites. Many had some sites which would support my 30' trailer. All had hand pump water with a rusty taste. All were fenced to keep the cows out. All were close to the main road (except this campground and Price Creek). All were $8/night or $4/pass (except Price Creek at $15/night). All were quite clean and well maintained. All had paved camp roads (except this one). All had pit toilets which were fairly clean, but none of them had toilet paper, just empty TP tubes. There is also much dispersed camping along the main road and the two graveled spur roads, 1299 & 2417. Some of the dispersed will support very large rigs. There is lots of firewood all over this valley. Dead standing and fallen lodgepole along the spur roads.

This campground has 5 sites. Three of them are tent only. The other two would support no more than 20' trailers. It is a beautiful spot with an open forest easy to walk through. I was there mid week in mid August. The mosquitoes had settled down to almost nothing and there was only one other camper in the campground while I was there. This campground is 1 mile up a graveled washboard road. The trails up to Tehepia and Torrey lakes are beautiful except for the two miles you share with cows.
