The Gap Trail is such a gem in Knox County. Well maintained, easy to access from several spots, and ample parking. It’s well-used especially during the summer, but it’s pretty and mostly shaded, which makes it a great place to walk or ride a bike in the summer.
My favorite access point for the trail is the Arch in Howard. Don't miss the Bridge of Dreams, 8 miles on bike from there.
The 14-mile Kokosing Gap Trail travels through a landscape of ravines and farmland and passes a beautifully restored train and a cheerful wood caboose. This outstanding trail connects the towns of Mount Vernon, Gambier, Howard and Danville on a smooth asphalt surface with park benches about every half mile. The gap between each community is about 4 miles, give or take.
Length: 14 miles
Trail end points: Phillips Park (Mt. Vernon) to S. Richard St. nr. treatment plant (Danville)
