Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on September 05, 2023We stopped overnight on our way home from Columbus. Site was large but not much in the way I've privacy. We stayed in winter and basically had the park to ourselves. I chose this site due to its proximity to tge playground for my 2 older kids. I could watch them play from my front porch. 30 amp electric only. Lake was drained at the time but I'm sure it is nice peak season although there was only 1 site that I could see that had a view of the lake. There was little to do in the area outside of the park.

The sites are concrete and level with only electric at the site. Fresh water and dump station are available. There are lots of trees, and most sites have plenty of shade. They will let you drive around before picking your site

Love the camp grounds. Some of the camping areas have sheltered picnic tables at your spot. Very nice for when it rains. All the sites have a metal pole with two big hooks to hang your camping lantern on. Very nice lake, luxurious lodge, but I don’t recommend hiking the Rolling Hills Hime from the campgrounds from the campgrounds to the lodge. The trail bridges are in desperate need of repair.

Very nice quiet campground. They have sheltered tables at several of the sites. Probably my favorite thing was the metal hanging post for your lanterns to light up your campsite. Hiking trails especially the Rolling Hills trail is in desperate need of repair on the bridges. Lots of wildlife to see. Pack in your groceries though because there isn’t any stores really close.

Because of COVID-19, there are no walk-in sites available. All sites have to be reserved online before showing up which is great for me. It allows us to pick our site ahead of time by looking at the camp map and seeing our choices. They even have photos of every site which is helpful to decide. We picked a site with a little deck near to a bathroom with no one else around on any of the nearby sites. (that’s what we prefer) The only issue is that they charge an extra $6.50 to make the reservation online.
Also we hiked over to the lodge, which was beautiful and had a nice dinner there overlooking the lake.

This busy state park campground, southwest of Columbus,.Ohio, is a nice place for a weekend getaway in the Columbus area. With 132 electric only sites, water hydrants throughout the park, shower houses, a dump station, and laundry facilities, it is an easy place to spend an extended stay.
The campground is very busy and reaervations are required at all Ohio state parks during Covid.
Cell service is spotty (Verizon) at the park but I was able to get fair service at my site (136.) If you need good cell service, check out A. W. Marion state park, a little to the east.
There are many kids at the campground and they all seem to have lights on their bikes which makes the evenings feel a little like the Disney Electric Light Parade. Younger kids were riding low to the ground electric go-xart type contraptions so be vigilant when. You drive through the campground.
Site 136 is a nice L shaped campground which provides privacy and shared for sitting outside.
The picnic tables are rough, but each site has a pole for lanterns and a fire ring.
There are many activities at the park, including biking, hiking, paddling, and disc golf.

We stayed one night on a Monday evening in August 2021. Site was level, plenty of shade, spacious and separated from other campers. Checkin was self service as no attendant on duty.

This isn’t camping, this is a parking lot with grass in an inner city apartment complex. Noisy, pandemonium. The hiking trails are all overgrown and barely walkable because no one uses them. They just come here to party. I had to ask kids to stop jumping on the stairs of my trailer because the parents don’t care. I can’t use my fire pit because the sites are so close, I’d burn my neighbor’s tent if I lit a fire.
This campground is the closest thing to hell for a quiet nomad. Maybe you don’t care. Maybe this review saves you from making my mistake.
