The Village of Mt. Pleasant is on the National Register of Historic Places and designated as a National Historic Landmark District of the Underground Railroad. To identify, collect, preserve and interpret the history of the Mt. Pleasant, Ohio area. Most of the village (approximately 500 residents) has been designated a historic district. The village is widely recognized for it's Quaker origin and anti-slavery actions, which includes an Underground Railroad and Free Labor Store, where nothing was sold that was raised or made by slaves was bought or sold.
