The Archive is located at 1600 Third St. Moundsville, WV. The admission of the Museum is donation only, this greatly helps with the adding of media and upkeep of contents. The focus of the Archive is to provide Paranormal groups and individuals the opportunity to present their gathered evidence and also to their share experiences with all who enter. The Archive will also offer the only exhibit dedicated entirely to the PARANORMAL HISTORY of the former West Virginia State Penitentiary. Thanks to groups and individuals there has been a great start in gathered documentation of this magnificent location. Paranormal Quest and Mountaineer Paranormal are just a couple groups of the thousands who have visited this relic of violence and corrections. The W.V.P. has also been featured on many television shows included, but not limited to, Ghost Adventures and Ghost Lab.
The archive was nice, but it was smaller than we expected. It was a cool place, though, with creepy dolls and death masks. There were also stories on the walls and a military section. Good place to visit for a twenty to thirty minute detour. The guy who was working also knew a lot about the exhibits (since he put it together), and he gave interesting side stories.
It's super dark inside so you look at everything with a flashlight. Rad. The place is pretty small but they're actively expanding their collection constantly. Talk to whoever is working for extra info on the exhibits. Some just look creepy, while others are actually haunted.
Great place to visit alongside the penitentiary!
The Archive of the Afterlife has relocated to 1600 Third Street, still in Moundsville, WV, the museum is located within the Sanford Community Center on the 2nd Floor in Ste. 202.
We just stopped in Moundsville and the Archive Of The Afterlife is in the process of relocating to a new building so unfortunately it is not open at the time being.
