We had reserved site 42, but when we got there, it was small, unlevel, and bumpy with washed out gravel. The loop was so crowded that it was almost impossible to get the angle to back our small camper into that site. We asked to change to another site, and they gave us a list of what was available. We actually got 18 right on the lake that was very nice. In fact, if you must stay there, try to reserve a site around the edge instead on one in the interior-they are horrible. You'd need a long electric cord and long hose. The roads in the campground leave a lot to be desired, but garbage cans are plentiful within the camping area. The bathhouse is clean, though, but nothing fancy. This is mostly a fishing place so it's a weird atmosphere, but the management is very nice. Because we were able to switch sites, it ended up being a good experience, but if that site had not been available, it would have been an awful experience.

We booked this place about a month out, and weren't sure how it would be. The campground is in a beautiful setting, real close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, and about 30 miles south of the end of Skyline Drive. The interior roads are pretty narrow, but we took it slow and didn't have a problem. If you have a rig over 25', I'd suggest one of the perimeter sites, not the interior ones.

Be aware that there is no, absolutely none, not even a hint of cell service nor is there Wi-Fi. Keep that in mind for planning your trip here.
For a relaxing weekend off grid this is your place. Beautiful setting in Nelson county. If you are over 30’ do not reserve an interior site, get a perimeter site. Some have sewer, some don’t but the dump station is convenient if you have a poop trolley.
The pond and lake are teeming with fish and provides a perfect place to sit and reflect without the distraction of your phone, unless you take pictures with it.
Site 24 was about 8 inches off level but 1 set of blocks trued up our trailer. No sewer but water and electric. NOTE: If you are tent camping and need power the pedestals only have a 30Amp plug, no 20A/110V or 50A. Adapters may be at the store but I would pick up a 30A to 20A adapter before you go.
Bathhouse is basic and clean.
If you are towing a trailer do not take 56 up the mountain. Take the BR Parkway. Directions are on their website.

Clean, great sites, wasn't too packed, and super friendly staff. Only problem we had was our site was supposed to have water, but we didn't. Some other campers were have a great time and were really loud.
Follow the directions recommendations the campground gives. Going there we didn't listen and it was rough with a 30' Motorhome.
