Sawatdee began in 1983 as the first Thai restaurant in the five-state area. Minnesotans were intrigued by the sweet, sour, bitter and salty taste combinations found in authentic Thai cooking. Over thirty years and six locations later, Sawatdee has become a Twin Cities favorite. Each location offers slightly different menus to reflect the preferences of people in each area. All who dine at Sawatdee are, for Supenn and her staff, celebrities. They believe "it does not matter who you are or when you come in to eat; you are treated with love, respect, and peace".
