“960 historic art deco buildings”
The Miami Beach Architectural District (also known as Old Miami Beach Historic District, and the more popular term, Miami Art Deco District) is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on May 14, 1979) located in the South Beach neighborhood of Miami Beach, Florida. The area was well known as the district where Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace resided, in a mansion on Ocean Drive. It is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Sixth Street to the south, Alton Road to the west, the Collins Canal and Dade Boulevard to the north. It contains 960 historic buildings.
Went here with my boyfriend for a relaxing walk. The views were just awesome. The old buildings had intricate details and were very picturesque. Wandering around and exploring the district was very fun. The whole area was full of magnificent sights which reminded us of the good old Miami. And if you get tired from all of the walking, there's a bunch of restaurants hanging around. Perfect for a filling meal after a wonderful walk.
In Miami's South Beach Art Deco District you'll find the world's largest concentration of 1920s and 1930s historic architecture. It's an absolute pleasure to just walk around and gawk at the gorgeous buildings, which have been loving restored and preserved. Plus, the beach is just across the street, and there's tons of places to eat along this stretch. Be prepared if you're driving that it's very busy in this area and you'll mostly be driving 10-20 mph through, which is cool if you're traveling with someone who can take photos of everything, since you're driving slow enough through.
