“Kampgrounds of America”
Bangor/Holden KOA is owned by Modern America Campgrounds, and truly makes the most of its beautiful Downeast Maine setting, with much of the campground preserved as woods and natural spaces. Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of nature as you explore our hiking trails or just relax at your site. Bring your big rig or stay in one of our cabins, domes or rental trailers. Many updates and upgrades were made during the 2023 season, including a brand new well/water treatment system, updates to the pool infrastructure, many site and park improvements, and a facelift in the store, just to name a few - all to better suite our customers and their needs. This pet-friendly KOA offers a fun , for both kids and adults, as well as there being a pool, playground, outdoor games area and gift shop. We have Arts & Crafts, Bingo, pancake breakfast on Saturdays, scheduled fire truck rides and theme weekends and related activities planned throughout the day on Saturdays. Most of our activities take place in and around our large pavilion, which is also available for rent for your special occasion. We have an ice cream store right on property. Holden A Kone is the place to go if you are looking for an ice cream treat. We serve many flavors of Gifford's famous hard serve ice cream and different weekly flavors of soft serve ice cream, so let your imagination run wild and allow us to create a yummy and refreshing dessert for you. If you are looking to explore the area, we are centrally located and only a short drive from some of the most beautiful areas and attractions of Maine. From Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, to Fort Knox and the Observatory in Bucksport, or the quaint little seaside towns or the Moosehead Lake Region, there is something for everyone to enjoy and to be awe inspired from the experience. We are always available to answer your questions or to help you enjoy your stay with us here at Bangor Holden KOA! Pool: Memorial Day through Labor Day. Max pull thru: 130 feet.

Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on July 26, 2023We stayed at what is now the Bangor/Holden KOA for a nearby family event. We made our reservation a year ago and it was a KOA then. The staff is clearly working hard on site and facility upgrades that should improve the experience in the future.
Check in was smooth and included the manager providing assistance by stopping traffic while I pulled into their driveway across traffic. At school bus time, this road is busy and backed up. Getting onto our site with our 43 footer was a little tight. I will stop short of stay this location is currently big rig friendly but experienced drivers will do fine. The pull through was plenty long though. Sites are a bit close but have seen them tighter in other spots. Office also has a cafe for take out food (and delivery in the campground).
Given the busy road I was very concerned about traffic noise but it was quiet at night. It’s late in the season so the campground was very quiet too. Utilities worked as need although the WiFi was strong but low bandwidth.

Stayed here after heavy rains and site was swamped. Did move me for next day. Staff friendly and helpful. Pretty quiet and fairly well kept. Would stay again.

• Nice location, close to Bangor
• Site was long enough for the RV and Toad.
• Mostly seasonal campers, which is odd for a KOA.
• Many seasonal sites are cluttered, takes away from the KOA expectation.
• Showers are clean and spacious, currently under renovation, but still functional.
• WIFI was poor, even my Rogers Hot Spot inconsistent here.
• Cable TV, but several channels have poor reception.
• They have signs reminding not to cut through other people’s sites, apparently this does not apply to seasonal campers.

BEWARE- Even though KOA has a reasonable cancellation fee ($10), the owner of this KOA does not.
We canceled our 30-day reservation well over a week out. We did not get our $500 deposit back.
We are full-time travelers, so we always stay 3-4 weeks. We did not pay a deposit for a "monthly" stay, which is $750 non-refundable -(this information is found in the bowels of their website - not on the reservation page), as we were not on a monthly plan.
In my opinion, we should have been given our refund as stated by the KOA guidelines.
It is true that the KOA Corp does not get involved in these disputes, but I feel they need to know how their franchises are being run.
Sadly, even when we do get our rig fixed, we will find another place to stay.
No doubt about it, you should stay here. We wish we had our grandkids with us because the kids were having a ball in the playground. Extremely friendly staff, a very nice store (we bought two T-shirts). A pizza store onsite that delivers. There is also an ice cream shop next door with lots of flavors for soft cones. We would stay here again.
Owners really care for property and comfort of their customers. Great location for greater Bangor/ Bar Harbor/ Acadia area.
Loved this KOA... Staff is friendly and helpful
