A Nat. Forest Rec Area located on the Inter Coastal Waterway with every site having a view of the parade of yachts and workboats traveling this N/S inland passage. Hiking and biking trails along the shoreline, Paved sites with elec. and water nearby. $10/night if you have the geezer pass.

Fortunately the C/G is located near major N/S highways, is inexpensive and maintained like a country club. unfortunately there are not many sites, the place is popular and it would be best to have reservations (http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/scnfs/recarea/?recid=472910.

The C/G is a short drive to Savannah and Georgetown with some beautiful historic plantations to visit along the way.

This is our 2nd time here at Buck Hall. This is a small quiet site located on the Intracoastal Waterway 25 miles north of Charleston. The bathhouse is a little "tired" but serves its purpose. There are lots of places to explore in the area. Beautiful sunrises over the Intracoastal.

While the restrooms and campground could be a bit cleaner and well maintained this is really a great spot. I came in for one night (without a reservation) and stayed for six. It’s only 30 miles from Charleston and right on the Palmetto Trail and Intracoastal Waterway so there’s plenty to do OR juat a great place to relax.

The main camp was full when we pulled in, so were directed to the overflow camp which was shady, pretty, secluded and with several spots to camp. Some sites had fire rings. The cost was $5 but we paid only $2.50 with our senior pass. We also had access to the main camp dump station and bathroom (which were not awesome).

Buck Hall Recreation Area is conveniently located right off route 17. The $20 includes a $10 senior discount plus a $10 reservation fee! The reservation fee seems awfully high but I assume it is the same whether you reserve one night or several nights. We only stayed one night so it is steep. There are some overhanging trees but fairly easy to dodge. This is an older park so the sites are narrow but plenty long enough for any size rig. They are all back-in and some would be tricky to get a big rig into. The sites are paved and some have trees but they offer little shade. Site 8 could use some trimming. The park itself is full of beautiful trees and it is right on the intracoastal. It was fun to watch all the boats passing by. They also have a boat ramp. Bathrooms were under renovation. The showers worked but not all the toilets. They had port-a-potties set up. There are lots of no see-ums expecially at night. The sites are water and electric with a dump station. Directv satellite worked fine in our site (9). Verizon was 4g 3 bars. For the most part it is very quiet although you can hear some traffic noise from 17 even though it’s a fair distance away. We would stay here again.

Camped here the end of July. Very pretty area. Mosquitos can be a pain so bring some deet. The hosts are very kind and the campsite is patrolled by local PD. Really enjoyed my stay here.

We had a great week at Buck Hall! The campground isn't very large so I definitely recommend making a reservation. During shrimp baiting season (60 days starting the Friday nearest September 15) the campground is completely booked. Plan accordingly! There is really nice boat landing and fishing/crabbing pier in the campground. We had a blast kayaking around and had some awesome dolphin encounters. The historic town of McClellanville is super cute and I definitely recommend a seafood dinner at TW Graham's! Their key lime pie is amazing as well! The nearby Sewee Visitor Center has red wolves and is free to visit. They also have RV parking! We enjoyed this, but if you have kids I think it would be a must do! You can call ahead and find out when they will be feeding the wolves. The crabbing is great at the campground and we had a delicious crab boil as a result! The only reason I am not giving this campground 5 stars is that the bathrooms were pretty gross. They were working on them while we were there so maybe there is a brighter future for these run down bath houses. Our hotspots worked great here too!

Earl and I camped arrived here on Friday, September 7. The day after was opening day for recreational shrimping. This campground has a very busy boat ramp and many of the campers had launched boats as well. It was quite a sight when boats started arriving at 5:30 in the morning.

We checked in with the host on our arrival who was friendly and very helpful throughout our stay. We camped in site 1 which was a paved drive that required a little leveling. But not much. The site had electric and water hook-ups. We didn’t use the restrooms or the dump station.

The campground gets crowded during shrimping season and was full the two days we were there. Site 1 has good separation from nearby sites, but it was still easy to walk over and talk with our neighbors. There are some interesting restaurants in nearby McCellanville. Service with ATT is very good and I was able to stream content via their network.

Earl and I would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

This is a beautiful spot, Was in the area recently and found out Buck Hall is closed until mid January, 2019 for water main repairs. It’s a good idea to double check official websites before heading into an area.

The campground was lovely! The showers not so much although the water pressure was good.
Great hiking trail! The second time we tried to do the trail we heard some scary animal sounds coming from the woods so we nixed it. The first time was great though.
Had a little trouble with the 30 amp at #7 so we used a dog one for the 50 amp. No problems at #8.
