This park is not far from NYC and reasonably priced. It has a very large beach on a lake and several excellent trails to hike. It's large, so you have to drive to get to the lake or nature center.

My biggest complaint was that our site was soft dirt and not level. Other sites seemed to be much more level.

One bad thing about the park was the mosquitoes. When we arrived and setup our levelers, 7 mosquitoes flew into the RV in the brief time we had the doors opened. They also were a constant nuisance when hiking. We talked to a ranger and he said there were the worst he's seen in 22 years.

First off if you rig is 11'0" or taller you can't even get into the campground. There is a bridge you have to pass under just after the office/check in station. I'm sure it says this somewhere on their website but I missed it. Fortunately our trailer is only 10 feet high so we made it under without incident.

Once inside the campground you'll find not many sites are level and even fewer have anything resembling a driveway. Our site, #16, is one of the few that can reasonably accommodate a trailer larger than say 25 feet. Most sites are plenty deep but they are at odd angles for backing a trailer into them.

It really is a nice campground once you get settled it. Lots of great hiking inside the park.

We visited this campground from 04/22/19 to 05/02/19.

No option but to eat crow, planning to stay 7 night but park is too much bad, lot of blood sucker mosquito, tick, fly , spider. and park employees are bad too not approachable, one of park ranger keep invading our campsite because they don't like our dog not to touch the ground yes the "campsite floor" while our neighboring campsite they have a dog too rooming around without a question and we are even charge for $5 per night . for what is the fee for ?. , Campground is like a ghost place never seen any employees working around to cut grass or anything that good for park. second . I came to cancel my other camp site reservations (which is due on next 4 days) in advance and she charged(manager) me for two night fees. yes, I am very disappointed during my entire stayed compare to other state park.

I arrived late so the office was closed. I tried to login online which is what their phone instructs and apparently you can’t reserve the day you’ve arrived and you have to reserve at least two nights even though there was only one night available. I was in a predicament so I just parked at a site that was supposedly available and parade that I could just pay in the morning.
There is road noise. Again the sites were very large iand wooded. I was there in the fall so the bugs weren’t in issue. Three bars of Verizon period
