We totally scored getting the best site in the campground (#20), so our experience was colored by the sheer awesomeness of our site. After the epic snow pack the lake was high and although it’s close, you can’t see the reservoir from any of the RV sites. However, there are just a few sites with fantastic views of a smaller lake adjacent to the larger Indian Creek Reservoir. We spent the evenings at our campfire watching through the pines as water birds cavorted across the lake, dusk turned the sky purple pink, and coyotes conducted their nightly sing-along. Moments you just want to capture with perfect clarity to pull out and enjoy over and over again.
Overall the sites in the campground are a mixed bag. There is one loop for tents only and a second loop signed for tents and RV’s. Many of the sites are small and too sloped for any but the smallest rig or car camper. They are also upcharging ($32!) for “double spaces” that are nowhere near large enough for two RV’s.
There is a bathhouse with flush toilets and showers, although during our stay several of the showers were out of order leaving just two functional showers for the entire tent/RV loop. Each site has a picnic table, fire pit, bear box and grills. Boat access to the reservoir is nearby and there are hiking trails leaving from the campground.
We had 2 bars of Verizon 3G unboosted, and managed 2 bars of 4G boosted.

The host is/was Tom, and he (and I assume his wife) run an excellent ship. When you arrive your camp site will probably be spotless. I saw them cleaning a just vacated spot like it was their own home. I was in an RV so I didn't need the camp's facilities, but they looked as clean as the camp sites.
There's a nice hike that starts on the west side of the CG that goes up to a small lake over the ridge called Summit Lake. It's a pretty easy hike, 1.5 miles to the lake.
I have a Verizon and Sprint hotspot, but neither could get a signal at all. I do use a booster, but I think mine is garbage.
I was there recently when the CG was closed. It's okay to disperse camp just at the left hand 90 degree bend at the airport, about a mile before the CG. You'll see a dirt 'road' if you turn right at that bend, and you can camp in the trees there. You'll see remnants of lots of other camps, if you don't see other campers.

Only stopped here to check out how it survived the fire. Not we’ll. Much burned. Dangerous algae bloom posted.

I stayed here a couple of years ago, before the burn. I fish...and honestly the fishing in the lake is real slow.
If the CG is closed you can disperse camp at the southwest end of the airport. You'll see dirt paths into the trees and I believe you can camp anywhere in those trees. I've camped there often, and the sheriffs drive by and wave. There's also a network of dirt trails on the west/north side of the road with camp sites well off the road, but you may need a 4WD with clearance to get to some of them.
I like it because it's real quiet. There is a hill peak to the east of the runway that you can hike up to.
