I have been here 2 days, and I have yet to see an administrator or office worker at all. This camp ground is more of a long-term stay types, and it's basically a gravel parking lot with hookups. the river looks gross, and I definitely wouldn't want to swim in it. The bathrooms are really nice though. And there are showers in each one.

Quiet, secluded campground next to the Catawba river. Hosts very friendly and helpful. Crushed stone driveways and pads, some shade trees at most sites. Hiking paths. Large DVD library to borrow from at the office. Many long-term residents, but everyone's friendly. Close to many Blueridge Parkway attractions.

We spent one night here on our way from VA to TN. It was a Friday night and the bar/nightclub next door blasted Hispanic music late into the night. We attempted to drown it out with our white noise machine and Fantastic Fan, but this was only moderately successful. A good night’s sleep is important to us; we would not stay here again.

We stayed here for a week so we could ride the Blue Ridge parkway and because it was pretty cheap compared to the other places around. The campground itself is pretty nice with a laundry room, river, and space to walk the dogs. They were really strict about making sure your dog is either inside or when outside on a leash at all times and can’t be tied up outside. While reading the campground rules online it stated that no rvs older than 15 yrs which is fine but then there were older ones when we got there (maybe it’s a new rule?). However, pulling into the town and road to the campground was pretty sketchy. The campground is behind basically a scrap yard of rvs with an abandoned building right outside and a super run down apartment building next door. We didn’t have any issues but were pretty apprehensive because of the area.

I had a travel trailer and was traveling with my sister and her husband with their large 5th wheel. We were in spots 2 & 3, by the entrance, across from the office for 4 days and 3 nights. It was very clean and well maintained, level gravel lots overlooking the river behind us, where we would see ducks and fishermen. We remarked on how the maintenance person seemed to work around the clock...mowing, fixing, making improvements. I introduced myself to him and told him we were talking about how he seems to be working constantly. He introduced himself as Claude. He was proud of the new very clean bathhouse, and was working on a park/game area, with plans to build some cottages for rent. There are trails going around the park, into the woods, and along the river. There is a small beach area where you can put in a float or kayak or whatever if desired.
The 5th wheel needed to be repaired. We found a great, inexpensive mobile RV repairman after others said they couldn't get to it for days and it would be an expensive repair. Randy, who owns Blue Ridge Mobile Repair in Marion, came over as soon as he finished the job he was on. He worked in the rain for several hours to make the repair, and charged under $200! Amazing!
Our only complaint was that the internet did not work...it kept timing out. Otherwise, it was a perfect place for us while we visited the emerald mines.
