“Camping & RV in Marine City, MI”
Algonac State Park contains approximately 1,500 acres and has a half-mile of St. Clair River frontage. Home to rare habitats, the lake plain prairies and oak savannas provide places to view prairie plants, birds and butterflies. One of the park's major attractions is viewing freighters of the world along the St. Clair River frontage. Archery and trap shooting are available. The park is open all year for a variety of activities including camping and a day use area. Two campgrounds are available, the Water Front and the Wagon Wheel. The day use area has a picnic area, picnic shelter, and restroom facilities.

Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on April 06, 2021For us, the drive was good. It only took us an hour to get there and the park is right next to the road going along the St. Clair River, which is one of the reasons for my poor rating. The road is busy and lot of loud trucks drove on it most of the day. The campground itself doesn’t have very many trees, which is a big negative for me. I like having a well shaded site. The site are small and with today’s huge campers being the norm, the campground felt very cramped after it filled up. It was nice to watch the freighters go by on the river and I’m assuming most of people there were there to do just that. Many of the campers had their chairs arrange to watch the boats go by.
The cell service was very crappy and our devices keep connecting with the Canadian cell providers, which have a much better signal. Make sure you have roaming data turned or you could end up with a large cell phone bill.

This campground, although nicely kept, is very very crowded and can be noisy. We do whole family camping trips there. There is a gun range with some strict rules and it's a shot gun and hand gun only range. The North and South parts of the camp ground are near the river where freighters pass. There is another section called the Wagonwheel. This is a more secluded part of the camp ground. The site I was at was fairly large and there was other people I didn't know willing to help accommodate if I needed it. There is no water hook up.

We usually come here in the warmer months and it is what it is... It's always busy, but it is fun. In the cooler months however are much less crowded and definitely worth a try. We loved hanging out by the fire walking going to the range and actually being able to see the freighters gliding by on the river. I would highly recommend doing this and we plan to do it again. This review is specifically for Algonac during the cooler months of the year

Very nice stay. Visiting relative in nearby New Baltimore. Perfect distance. Pleasant place. Peaceful at night, even over holiday weekend. Definitely will stay again. Love the blue Michigan water throughout the state!

It’s a worthwhile spot for remote workers. Not a whole lot going on but got a solid 34 down and 23 up.

Very clean and well managed park. Watching American and international freighters are a highlight of being on the river. I love seeing the big behemoth ships in the shipping lane.

We love this place! This is our second time here. Wish we could have stayed longer. Next time we will try closer to the road. We love watching the ships and all the small boats go by. Everyone in the campsite stops and looks. Makes me feel like a kid again. In NYC we used to go to the park with my Grandpa and watch the ships and boats glide up and down the East River. Will we come back again. Yes indeed!

While it's right by the river, you'll need to cross a somewhat busy street to get to the river. There wasn't much else going on there, but to be fair we didn't spend much time there during the day.
The spots are averagely spaced but more on the small side. The site wasn't super unlevel but it was a little short for our 27' Airstream and truck to both fit.
It rained while we were there and the site across from us completely flooded. They had a crew out pumping the water and digging a ditch to drain the water away from the rv and truck that were staying there.

There is no water or sewer hook up. The roads throughout the campground have 2 and 3 feet craters in them. The camp has beautiful views of the river and well maintained bath house facilities. It fills up during the weekend and is practically empty during the week. Definitely drive through the town Algonac just south of the park. It’s awesome and lots of great places to eat.
It was neat to see the ships cruising the river....But there is a 2 lane road in front of the campground, between the campsites and river. So you also have a lot of road noise. There is also no shade along the road. Not a lot of shade at all. Wasn't the friendliest bunch either. We stayed for a night, i wouldn't have stayed for 2. Not much to do either.
