Starting in 1958, the Paine family has offered a quiet relaxing place for people to come and connect with nature. Here in Wellfleet, the Cape narrows down to a finger of land with the bay to the west and the Atlantic to the east. Beautiful beaches are just minutes from your wooded campsite. We are located on a country road next to the Cape Cod National Seashore Forest. From Paine's you can walk or bike on excellent trails through the National Seashore to the ocean. All of our sites are unique, and you and your expectations are unique too. To ensure the best vacation possible, please provide our staff with accurate information regarding your camping equipment, when you fill out your reservation form. Please call ahead for availability. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire ring. Our state certified water is available throughout the campground. Let us know what you like and we will try and choose the perfect site for you. Sorry, no dogs allowed.

State of MA has purchased Paine's Campground in 2018, and it is now run by Mass' DCR.
Their online reservations contractor is ReserveAmerica: https://www.reserveamerica.com/explore/wellfleet-hollow-state-campground/MA/35501/overview

There are some quieter, more sparsely populated sites, some sites closer to the entrance, some closer to the showers, and so on - one must look at the map *and* read site descriptions.

This is a decent "standard" campground. Current (as of 8/2019) downsides are:
- lack of a full-service camp store (although firewood is sold and a very helpful staff member is present until 9 PM);
- showers are, I'd say, "rustic" - but renovations are scheduled for this fall (2019).

I can't evaluate their RV features as we had a car and a tent, but I do know that the number of sites with hookups is limited (under 10), and some turns are sharp.

We have been staying here for many years, even when it was Paine's Campground. This is a basic, no frills campground in a great location between the ocean and the bay in Wellfleet. The state now owns it and they have done a great job updating the bathrooms and sites. The state has also been able to keep the quiet and peaceful atmosphere that we have always loved about this campground. Plus there are a few sites with running water and electricity, which is hard to find at a state campground. We will keep coming back and are so happy the state is now running this amazing campground.
