“Nestled in the foothills of the Western Massachusetts”
Here at Prospect Mountain Campground we offer a family atmosphere with non-stop fun while enjoying the great outdoors. Nestled in the foothills of the Western Massachusetts Berkshires, looking over the Pioneer Valley at 1,300 ft our natural setting is sure to delight every camper. Whether in a tent or a 40 ft big rig RV our spacious wooded sites will accommodate you. We also offer rustic cabin rentals for those without equipment or who don't wish to "rough it". We're pet-friendly too because we know camping isn't the same without every member of your family, even the dog! We're a family owned and operated campground, so we know what our campers are looking for in their summer vacation getaway. Do a little or do a lot -- it's your choice. We offer a full activities program including lots of fun and unique events as well as all the classic camping activities like hayrides, arts and crafts, bingo, and family dances. And with themed weekends every week, you can join us for even more fun like our Christmas in July Weekend, Las Vegas Weekend, Annual Pig Roast Weekend, Pirate Weekend, or many others. Located only 45 minutes from Hartford CT and Springfield MA, the area also offers plenty to do, including Six Flags New England (only 30 minutes away!), the Basketball Hall of Fame, the Big E Eastern States Exposition in September, plenty of hiking trails and other outdoor activities, and a number of fascinating museums! So whether you choose to visit us in our rustic recreational hall for a variety of family fun, go fishing with the kids in one of our ponds, take a break in our heated pool, or just sit around your campfire and relax among the peace and quiet, Prospect Mountain Campground has something to please the whole family, and that's exactly what we aim for.

Critiques:
Many of the sites seemed short. Our site #27 just fit our 25ft Starcraft, the road it is on is narrow, so it was a bit of a challenge to back the RV in. Once in our site it was wide and roomy. The Fire-Pit was at the front of the site, I would have preferred it back a ways, to stay out of the headlights coming up the road at night.
If you are coming in a tent, be prepared as some sites are not perfectly flat and there maybe a small stone gravel base to deal with. A cot or a good ground mat would be a good idea. You are camping after all.
The Perks:
There is a large contingent of Seasonal sites, so it shows the Staff is keeping their customers happy. All of the interactions we had with the Staff were pleasant and helpful. Always had a smile and "What can I do to help?" The campground was full (we took the last RV Site for the weekend), it's not easy to please that many people.
The sites were maintained, as the rest of the facilities.
With this era of COVID many of the advertised activities had to be canceled or reduced, but there was no shortage of things to keep the kids & Adults busy on a reduced capacity; the Pool is open, along with Horse-Shoes, Miniature Golf, evening Movies, Playground, RC Car Racing, the list goes on. There was no shortage of young & old at the ponds feeding the geese, or trying to land that big fish.
For the most part the mornings were quiet but the noise slowly rose with children playing and pleasant conversations among the campers.
All told my wife & I are planning another stay.

The best thing about our stay was our site#49. Secluded, wooded, on the edge of a pond, pretty nice.
The first drawback was the utilities were on the wrong side of the site. We weren't able to open our awning all the way to avoid a tree and be close enough to the Electric to plug in. Lesson here is to get a long cord or extension.
The campground emailed us a few days before our arrival to let us know that the bathroom/showers closest to us we being renovated and temporarily closed. Upon arrival we saw that there actually is NO bathroom here but just a foundation for a future bathroom. Very poor planning to have over 200 sites with 2 bathrooms on a busy holiday weekend, one being glorified outhouse with toilets like I have in my camper, push the pedal, add water, push again to flush. The other bathroom had 2 stalls, and 3 showers. Not enough for this many campers on a busy Labor Day Weekend. The majority of the sites are seasonal with many run down, unkept trailers. Most of the sites throughout the campground are very close together. Luckily there are a lot of trees to give a little privacy. Wifi was available for addition cost. This is not a repeat!

Only 1 bath house available & it was VERY old. Lots of homesteaders. Way off the freeway.
