Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on April 11, 2023Came here to check out the warm springs (about 1.5 miles west of the campground) and the Neowise comet (amazing view from here). The campground sits in the middle of a beautiful, desolate valley with amazing views in every direction. The night time sky was epic, zero light pollution in these parts. I’m not a fisherman or duck hunter, but apparently the campground caters to them with Kirch wetlands nearby. The warm springs (I’m not sure that they even have a name) are very pretty, and truly feel And look like a little bit of the Caribbean in the middle of Nevada. The springs are definitely not hot, kind of more like a heated pool. They are great for soaking on a summer day, but likely wouldn’t be warm enough for a winter or a late night swim.
The reason for 4 stars was that the campground itself just seemed “clunky” and wasn’t super pretty. Ugly awnings over the picnic tables, sporadic, random trees and saplings all over yet the campsites were not private feeling at all, though they were nice and level. There was a free dump and water spigots all around, so that’s really great. The 7 mile road in (from the south off of 318) was quite washboarded but doable with any car.
All in all, very pleasant experience. Probably wouldn’t drive super far out of my way to come back or make a special trip, but would gladly stay again if in this part of NV again.

Dave Deacon campground is about a 7 mile drive in from the main road. The road was a little washboardie but not too bad (we have been on a lot worse).
There is only one camp host, and over 20 campsite and 3 clean vault toilets, and 4 fish cleaning stations with water spigots and potable water, and RV dump station. Can accommodate big and all size of rigs, also tent camping.
We were here around the first of April and the only ones here so far. A few miles up road is a natural hot springs you can soak in.
This is our second time coming here and will back again if possible.

Great once here. Quiet, expansive views, amazing stars but the road in is 7 miles of washboard each way. Warms springs are also very nice but have endangered fish so please respect the area. Has water and Rv dump but no power.

About 6 miles in. Road wasn’t too bad towing a smaller travel trailer. There is water and Rv dump here , no trash service. No t mobile cell service but starlink works perfect . Very quiet and lots of beautiful scenery. Please leave it nicer than you found it …..

Water is encroaching the road in to the campground, with the snow melting id give it another month or so before camping here to avoid getting flooded in. 8 miles of dirt road, last 5 have massive rocks so can’t go faster than 5-10 mph.

We stayed the limit of 8 days in MAY 2024. The road in and those around the refuge were in decent shape, a few washboards here and there but not bad. We arrived on Sunday afternoon and only had the choice of three spots. During our stay, many people came in and stayed just over night, but most nights the camp was 75%-90% full even mid week. I suspect it would be packed out on holidays. The draw, besides a nice free campground with pit toilets, tables, shades, and water spickets is nearby fishing at 5 small reservoirs, wildlife (birds) photography, and of course the soaking pools at Hot Creek 1 mile away. The many dirt roads make for endless biking and hiking. We had 3-4bars ATT on the east side of the campground, but nothing with Verizon or T-mobile any where. Loved being serenaded by the mocking birds, meadowlarks, and seeing orioles and yellow headed blackbirds, and lots of others too fast to identify. No trash, so pack it out, but there is an RV dump.
