Bathrooms were OK, but it looked like a lot of full timers are parked there year round. We'd stay there again, but only if we had to.

We were in the area the first weekend in May for another event. This was closest campground to our activity.
We have young teenagers and there were many things about this campground they would enjoy in warmer months. Two swim beaches, inflatables in the water to swim to, a small pool, mini golf, large chess set, jump pillow, fishing, canoe and kayak rentals. I believe the campground also holds events such as rides on a fire truck, corn hole tournaments, and such. There is also a small camp store.
The bathhouse was clean and certainly met our needs. There was individual rooms with a private sink, toilet, and shower.
Our only issue is individual site quality. The campground packs campers in a tight as they can. Privacy is at the top of our list of wants and this campground majorly failed in this area. Also, most sites aren't anywhere near level. Our site didn't have a fire ring but the sites around us did.
There are long term residents living full time in the campground as well as seasonal campers left there all summer.
I had Verizon cell service. The campground has WIFi which works best by the camp store. It only randomly worked from our site.

We stayed at Small Country for two months during the height of the pandemic. While a number of the facilities were shut down we still enjoyed our stay here. We were able to kayak on the lake and walk in the woods. Others were able to fish the lake. The owners, a multi-generational family who recently took over the campground, made us feel safe and welcome at all times. Once government restrictions are lifted this would be a great place for a family with kids to come on a vacation. They have a bounce pad, mini golf, and two beaches!
The campground is located in the Virginia Piedmont so there are some changes in elevation in the campground and the owners have retained all of the mature trees. That means that many of the sites have nice shade, but it also means that it will take some effort to get level. I think that is a reasonable trade-off.
The new owners are a three-generation operation and they are working so hard to upgrade the campground. Everyday they were all hard at work cleaning up sites, building a nature trail, painting buildings, upgrading the electrical service, etc. The nice thing is that they live permanently on-site, so your problem is their problem as well. So they address them asap.

Lots to do for kids and adults, like a giant jumping pillow and a huge chessboard. Well maintained and quiet at night. Only thing we didn’t like is there are no street lights. Once it’s dark it is DARK!

We picked this campground to stay in while we visited Charlottesville. The site we had was very tight ,dirt and muddy site and very not level. The bathhouse was close and clean. This campground is not very convenient to Charlottesville and is out in the middle of nowhere.

A big, woodsy campground with many amenities that appears to be catering to long-term patrons. We were here for an overnight in early spring, prior to the campground’s sprucing up for the summer months. Lots of long-term RVs In place with absentee owners, a situation that often results in unkempt sites and grounds. Water runoff has ditched some of the dirt roads; many sites require levelers. Restrooms were clean and adequate. A miniature golf course was well kept up, though, like the pool, not open at this time of year.
With a cash infusion, one suspects this place could be a prime, sought-after RV getaway.

We really enjoyed our stay at Small Country. Staff was super friendly Sand had some great activities. Bingo, Karaoke, Hay ride. Great fishing pond and swim beaches. Great areas for pets. The pool wasn’t open but I’m sure it will be great. The camp store is brand new and provides all you need. Upstairs is a great little arcade/activity room. The putt putt course was better than most I’ve seen. Bathrooms were clean and the laundry room was just what you need.

We had a long drive and pulled into the campground just after sunset. It was so dark and there were hardly any lights on in the campground. We pulled up to the office and a paper was waiting there for us with our assigned spot. It was incredibly difficult to find our spot in the dark. Once we found it, we realized we were turned the wrong direction for utilities and would have to turn around somehow. We made out way back out and found a tree near the entrance that allowed us to turn around it 360 degrees with our big rig.
We checked in in the morning and the process went smoothly. We had a pull-thru premium site that looked over the hillside to the lake below. I don’t normally book premium sites, just take what we can get, but it turned out to be a great decision. The view was worth it!
It was full hookup. No problem with any of the utilities.
They have a mini golf course on site that is free to use in the off season. There’s also a playground and a bouncy pad for the kids. They could also check out basketballs and bean bags for cornhole.
Starlink was running great at 103 up/8 down. Verizon on the phone came in at 3 bars and only gave us 5/0.7. With the cell antenna we received a better signal of 4 bars with 3/4. AT&T gave us 2 bars and 8/0.6. The campground had WiFi and it came in at 15/11.
