“Nice hike that is not too strenuous.”
The falls and surrounding area are considered sacred to the Kootenai Indians whose ancestors inhabited the region. A forest trail leads from the highway parking lot down to the Swinging Bridge. Kootenai Falls was the setting for the filming of the movie, "River Wild".Location: US Hwy 2 between Libby and Troy, milepost 21.
Forest service is replacing the bridge in 2019, but the current current one is still accessible. Easy hike to bridge. Gorgeous views of river and falls.
Very scary hanging bridge. Moderate hike down and back. The falls are beautiful.
Loves this! Couldn’t take our god because she wouldn’t walk on the grated staircase to the bridge but the views were beautiful! Free and no reservations needed. The hike to the falls was easy and short. Able to get some beautiful pictures and there is a small snack station/gift shack by the parking area.
You cannot access this off the road as the description suggests. Be ready to take a moderate hike. Very busy area. Beautiful landscape.
Great little hikes to the waterfalls and another to the bridge! So worth a stop and you can get a huckleberry shake at the snack shack!
